Hey Lancers! I'm Sarah Hansen. It's Thursday, February the 27th, and PCC One starts now!
PCC One. Campus news in a minute.
PCC One is brought to you by the Pasadena City College Transfer Center. Think transfer.
We've got something for everyone today, so let's,
[music -- Get Down On It]
Not sure what the steps are for transfer? What if I told you that there is a
"How to Transfer" workshop going on today from noon to 1, in L-110? There, you feel a little
better now, don't you?
Hungry for a little equality? Well, bring your appetite for good food and social justice
and head on over to Harbeson Hall from 12 to 1, for the annual *** Alliance Potluck.
The QA will be hosting the Staff Potluck Mixer to give all students a chance to meet the
PCC staff and faculty that support the *** community and to chat with fellow QA members.
Feel free to bring YOUR favorite snacks and drinks to share. Beef Jerky, Chicken Noodle
Soup with some Jarritos on the side,... all our welcome.
Time for PCC Sportsbeat:
Before returning home tomorrow to open a four game home stand, our Soft-ballahs head down
to Wilmington to take on LA Harbor College at 3 o'clock. The winless Seahawks could
be the perfect remedy for our ladies who have dropped their last two. Go get 'em, Lancers.
Continuing the celebration of Black History Month, the Jackie Robinson Lecture Series
presents: Reflections on "12 Years A Slave" and the California Court System. 12 Years
A Slave, which has been nominated for 9 Oscar Awards, including Best Picture, will be screening
at 5PM, in the Creveling Lounge. There will also be a Q&A and panel after the screening.
This is one of the most powerful films to have been made in quite some time. You do
not want to miss it. Speaking of not to be missed, make sure and stop by the Justice,
Balance, and Achievement exhibit located in the African American Heritage Room in the
Shatford Library. It's well worth the visit.
Have you been to the Center for the Arts Theater yet? Here's the perfect excuse. Tonight
at 8PM in the Blackbox Theater, PCC's Musical Theater Department will present a production
of Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award Winning Company. Company is a musical with a very
familiar theme, one man's inability to commit to a relationship...really? Tickets are $15
for general admission and $10 for students, staff, and seniors. You can purchase them
at the Center for the Arts box office.
Finally, inspired by the NBC Today show's "Love Your Self-ie" series, where the
show's anchors have posted pictures of what they look like without make-up, PCC is joining
in on the fun, by embracing our makeup-less, naturally beauty. We're encouraging all
you ladies of PCC to send in your make-up-less selfies, on twitter or instagram @pcclancer
#loveyourselfie and we'll feature them on the web for our make-up less Mondays.
If you have any interest in doing what I'm doing, Lancer Lens will be holding talent
auditions tomorrow. That's right tomorrow. You can contact us at lancerlens@pasaadena.edu
and we'll set you up with an audition time.
That's all the news that's fit to stream. If you have any news items or announcements
that you would like shared, please submit your request to lancerlens@pasadena.edu.
You can follow us on Twitter @pcclancerlens. I'm Sarah Hansen and we'll see you tomorrow.
