I took the opportunity for education very seriously
being older more mature
I really absorbed what I got here
the engineering education
has been great for me in life and
I had the opportunity to take some business courses while I was doing that and
that was probably as valuable to me as anything. I'm a contractor.
I love to build things I love to watch people grow
It's neat to be able to build things bridges and dams and roads and water plants
and things like that
but to do that
and to grow people and to develop people
while you're doing it and to see them then become successful in life and
in business I get more pleasure out of that than any dam I guess
we've ever built
so I love to do that
outside of that anything outside hunting, fishing,
working in the yard
if you put me outside I'm fine
coop me up inside I'm probably not
I have stayed close to the school ever since I graduated I've been involved the
Engineering Advisory Council
for years and years and years
I've been close with other professors here
been very close with David Buyer always thought the world of David
and when I had the opportunity and could afford to do it
Pam and I setup for scholarship in honor of David a
number of years ago
hopefully that helps someone else have the opportunity to go to school here
and to have the experience that I had
we set up a second scholarship in honor of Johnny Graham. Johnny and I graduated here
together
we were students together
he worked out in the private sector for a while and came back here and
became a full professor
an engineer professor here
and Johnny and I
continued to be friends for
forty years. This school has meant so much to me
and through me so much to this community the things that I've had a chance to do
it's just a way to give back
