-If you're convicted of the crime of possession
of a switchblade, then it's a misdemeanor.
And you could face probation, fines,
and up to six months in county jail.
Oftentimes, judges are willing to give you
probation with little or no actual jail time.
But probably the worst consequence of the conviction
is having it on your criminal record.
And when prospective employers do a background check
and they see that you've been convicted for possession
of a knife, possession of a switchblade, they wonder,
is this person going to bring a weapon to the workplace?
Is this person dangerous?
It can be very easy to pass you over for a job.
So to the extent that you're charged with this offense,
you want to do everything that you can now while there's still
time to avoid conviction and keep it off your record.
