Steve: Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect. Today we are going to show you how to change the
door switch actuator on your dryer. It’s a really easy job. All we are going to need
is a Philip’s screw driver, quarter inch nut driver and a pair of needle nose pliers.
Let me show you how it’s done. Since we are going to be working around some electrical
circuits, first thing we need to do before we start is to disconnect the power to the
dryer, if it has a chord on it simply disconnect it from the socket and if it is a hard wired
we’ll need to locate the breaker and turn that off.
Our next step will be to remove the two end caps, simply lift up on the top tilt them
forward, then open the bottom of the small tab and there’s two more on the top as well.
So remove both of those. Now we’ll expose couple of Philips screws one on each side
that we’ll need to remove next we’ll rotate the consul pull it forward and then rotate
it backwards. That will give the access to three quarter inch hex head screws we need
to remove. Next we’ll slide main top forward and then lift it completely off of the dryer.
Now our next step will be to remove the wires from the door switch and depending on what
model you have there may be two or three wires on that door switch so take note of the location
of each of the wires with a pair of needle nose pliers just pull those off. Next we’ll
open the door, and locate two Philip screws that hold the actuator in place ,
remove those then you can lift the switch and the actuator out of the dryer front set
aside the switch out of the actuator, take our new one line it up, make sure the holes
in the switch line up with the holes in the actuator bracket, drop it through the square
hole in the front panel and we’ll start one screw
if one started line up the other one, tighten both screws securely check the actuation of the lever make sure
it’s not binding on anything then we can reinstall the wires make sure they have a
tight fit, if any of them are loose we can crimp them with a pair of needle nose pliers,
then we are ready to put the main top back on.
Now we are ready to put the main top back on, couple of hooks at the front on either
side that will engage this portion on the top so we need to line those up and slide
the main top back. Just lift up on each corner to make sure that we’ve engaged those tabs.
We’ll reinstall the three quarter inch hex head screws. Next we’ll rotate the consul
back into position, make sure that we engage these two hooks on the top of the bottom of
the end-caps so that it holds in the main top, push it back into place. Install the
two Philip screws, take care not to over tighten these, next we’ll reinstall the end-caps,
locate the bottom tab and insert it into the slot, line it up and just snap it into place.
Now we are ready to reconnect the power and our repair is complete. Told you that was
an easy job. Thanks for watching and good luck with your repair.
