Welcome to ETSU's Graduation page and the Commencement for Spring 2012.
My name is Bob Plummer and I'm the Executive Director of the ETSU
National Alumni Association,
and we are proud to
have an opportunity to welcome our new Graduates and encourage them to be a
part of the ETSU family wherever they go.
The Alumni Association started in the 1920's
with a welcoming ceremony for the Graduates that year
of 1928
with a gathering at the amphitheater, a Candlelight Ceremony the
night before Commencement.
In that ceremony,
the whole purpose was to greet the diplomats.
Well, for our Graduates, we look upon you as diplomats. You carry
our name and our institution with you wherever you go.
You are a part of ETSU in the Community you serve, in the career
you choose and in the areas of activity you take in your life.
We hope that you will remember that
giving back to ETSU through your time,
talents, and treasure,
being a volunteer, being an active part of the Alumni Association, participating
with your College, School, or Academic Program as a
guest teacher,
an "Alumni Return to the Classroom" person
or
a volunteer to mentor students is all valuable in helping the next
generation. Send us students. Send us your help and your ideas,
and your insights. We are a better ETSU because of what you do and what you
bring back to us everyday.
Be active as an Alum, be a part of our future because we're with you
forever. Thank you for being a part of ETSU and good luck!
