Hi, this is Joelle Meijer.
I will show you how to make an engraving with styrofoam.
If you know the technique of linocutting or lino engraving,
you will know that it is not really suitable for younger kids
and yet it's nice to learn a engraving technique.
To avoid the danger of being cut, I suggest you try "styro-cutting" using styrofoam.
Recycle a styrofoam tray without any engraved inscription on it and trim the edges.
Then draw the design you want with a pencil with a rounded tip.
Trace all the lines of your drawing a second time,
pushing on your pencil to create a groove in the styrofoam.
Now, spread the paint evenly over the styrofoam surface with a roller.
Avoid using too much paint because it may accumulate in the grooves.
Turn the foam over on a sheet of paper and press all over the styrofoam.
Remove the styrofoam and there you have the result!
If you want to print in other colours,
clean the styrofoam and the roller and start over!
