Today on DoodleDrawArt are we're going to try the Green Lantern logo
It is an easy logo to draw but it's a little tricky all at the same time.
what you'll have to work on here most is the circle
so I always recommend floating circles over circles
because I mean as much as a circle is a pretty obvious thing it's not the
easiest thing
to draw freehand so once you've
floated a few circles over each other you'll start to get a feel for where
the perfect circle as an almost perfect circle when I started and then it got
worse and worse
but I do have a good circle at the edges now so
don't go too slow
but bring your pencil around the edge of the circle here
finding the line that you believed to be
as close to perfect as possible
you know nothing's perfect, nobody's perfect
or are all just doing our best
that's pretty good now it isn't double circle so
happily we have families extra sketch lines it's not very thick
I'm going to go maybe in this far away from the outside so I'm just gonna do the same
thing again
making another circle as I go
all the way around
trying to keep the same distance from the edge
as when I started
so reasonable it'll get better
okay so now the logo start off with a line
that goes straight across the top
so and makes a very skinny wedge-shape
up here and
then another one across the bottom same idea
so just a very skinny wedge shape across the bottom
about the same size when you're at the top
now the edge in the logo is gonna bleed into the shape from the bottom here so
here you might think you should just come down from here and draw the next part, but you don't
actually
you're going to come over here
I mean I gone... this far. So let's mark that on both sides
and then we're gonna come down
like this on both sides
so that's the edge
there really is an angle here doesn't go straight
now we are going to do the same thing on the bottom
so we're just jumping over again this is about a centimeter on my page
then from here
it's like you're coming straight up over and going in a little over a centimeter
and it's like we're going straight up so think about your straight up line
but then just angle in a little
like that and then same thing here just coming in
okay now the fun begins
next draw a bumped
out line that's not gonna come out this far so, see these 2 guys here
I just drew a little sketch lign it's not going to come out that far it's going to come
out
about this far from these two corners
touching in so just float your pencil a few times
so you feel like you're getting it and then go ahead and place it on
same thing on the side so first imagine this line here - that's where you
don't wanna go and come in to about here, that's where you do want to go
I would turn my paper, if I was not drawing for you
because the pulling towad my hand like this in this arc
it's really a natural and gonna lead to bad things but
s'okay I can do it! here we go!!
okay so now just size it up and see
if it's all the same - and so my isn't - so just check it out
come across here you want this side
up matching as high as this one is
so that's the problem here
come straight across
check it out make sure it matches and just bring this over
here. okay that looks better
so again I'm comparing the curves on each of these edges to see if they're
matching
and then the last and most difficult thing to do is to make the circle inside
so
this line here this imaginary line
this is the edge of the circle and this is the edge of the circle so
now you see this thickness here 3/4 of an inch
same amount of thickness here 3/4 of an inch
same and thickness here 3/4 of an inch
now if I did a good job on all the proportions
I should make a circle
that makes these lines connect
that actually resembles a circle
egg-ish on the bottom here I'm gonna push it a bit more so you know I said it was
easy and hard
because easy to look at
but hard to draw and get proportionally right.
so erasing this line here
yep I'm gonna be able to make some final lines from this
it's gonna be fine
just fine!
really hot here today
I'm in Canada it's summertime
it does get hot in Canada and the summer were sweating a little bit
what's it like for you are you having a good hot summer or not?
when we draw things we have to always always use our own judgment
next: to go over all these lines
with Sharpie and color it in!
I hope you enjoyed watching me draw
