Hello, my name is Hannah Darling and I'm a professional declutterer, and today we're
going to look at my top 10 tips to declutter your property and get it ready for sale.
Make a list of all the things you need to do in each room and really stick to it.
This process can be overwhelming so its a good idea to set a time, maybe an hour a day,
to focus on your clearing up.
For each room get 3 boxes to sort your items: keep, rubbish and give away.
Go around the room and clear all surfaces, pack these in the boxes, and then when you've
finished that start working on the cupboards.
Its very important to make sure that all your surfaces are clear and clean of clutter.
De-personalise your property, try and remove any pictures of animals or your children and
family... and especially post cards from your Mother in Tenerife!
Make sure you have intelligent storage. Use boxes but make sure that they work for you.
Don't have letters and information all over the house, have one central point to put it
into and then deal with it and file it away.
Its good to get rid of items in your wardrobe to have a good clear out. Pick up items that
you don't wear and get rid of them. You can also pack up any items which are seasonal
so they are out of the way. A good tip is to turn the hangers round the wrong way and
then when you've worn an item pop it back in and you'll see what you're really using.
Take a picture of each of the rooms you're working on and really look at them and you'll
start to see things that need to be removed.
I hope you've found these tips to de-clutter your house for sale useful, but remember,
it can stressful and emotional to do this but stick with it and you'll be surprised
at the results.
