Hi, this is Ginny with Simply Beautiful Crafts on behalf of Expert Village and today we're
going to be making a variety of versatile Halloween centerpieces. Before we can put
together our Bountiful Basket centerpiece we do need to establish a good solid base
so whatever shape your basket comes in you're going to need a base that will fit its shape.
Because my basket is round I'm able to use a round floral block that just fits in there.
If you're going to re-use this basket you don't need to glue it in you can always put
some newspaper around the edge to keep it secure but you do want something in the bottom
so that you can put your picks in it. Then the next thing you'll want to do is add height.
I'm going to use a floral block for mine because this is going to be my focal peice so I'm
going to take this floral block and I'm going to glue it onto my floral circle, styrofoam
circle in the bottom so that I have a good solid base. Now, I'm gluing this one in and
it's just the right height for my focal point because I have chosen this figurine for my
focal point. Depending on how tall your figurine or your calendar or your piece of vegetable
may be will depend on how high you're going to make your block inside. And, if you're
not going to use many picks then you may not even need to use the floral block but you
need to do something to get height inside that won't be seen. And then when you're finished
with this, if you're not glueing in your bottom piece and there's space in there take some
newspaper and either crumble it or twist it so that you can put it around the base and
keep it secure. You don't want
your pieces to sink while you're working on it or after it's finished so if you just use
newspaper you can make it go all the way around and you will have a very secure base. This
is the beginning of our Bountiful Basket.
