One of the most popular applications of our silver plating solution is in the thriving
market for the restoration of silver plated antiques. Our silver plating solution will
transform those old items on which the silver is patchy or has completely worn off into
eye-catching items that your customers will find irresistible.
If the item is heavily tarnished and wear is an issue, then start off with a power cleaning
stage with Cleaner at 7 volts. This helps remove the tarnish and avoids the need for
excessive abrasive polishing. Then give it a rub with MPU to remove any remaining polish
and prepare the surface for plating. Go straight in with silver plating at 3 volts if you’re
using a platinum electrode and 4 volts if you’re using a carbon electrode.
At this point it might be a good idea to enhance your work by selectively plating a particular
area with our gold plating solution. You can find full guidance on gold plating in our
other training videos or in our training manual, which is freely downloadable from our website.
When that’s done, you can finish off the plating with an optional anti-tarnish layer
of white palladium using a platinum electrode at 3 volts. Now complete the job with a quick
buff with Goddards Silver Polish.
