The things that come to mind are funny in some respects, but a lot of times, I don't
want to tell a specific story because a "for instance" would be, some of the hair, sometimes
we have guys that are very country, kind of redneck, and they start getting cleaned up
and their idea of getting cleaned up may be really short hair, long in the back, kind
of old style mullet. But that's, you laugh at stuff like that, but that's just, that's
their culture and that's where they come from, so you run into a lot of situations like that.
One of the oddest situations, it was, it's kind of funny looking back on it now, was
we had a guy come off the streets that moved into our men's home, and in the men's home
the bedrooms are upstairs. And he lived up there and one day I went up there and it kind
of didn't really smell right up there and so I was kind of like "Ronny, what's that
smell"? And he said "Oh, that's my bedpan". I said, "Your bedpan"? He said, "Yeah, I keep
a bucket here so I don't have to walk downstairs to go to the bathroom". I was like "No, no,
no, no, no. You're living in, we have indoor plumbing now, we can do this". So it's just
always funny to me, at sometimes how people think because of the situations they've been
in for so long. The best moment, and it tends to happen over and over again, it's when I
see someone really understand how much God really loves them, no matter what they've
done in the past, and make that decision to really start following Him, surrender to Him,
and change your life. And that's, by far, the greatest moments that I've had doing what
I do. And then, sometimes it's just looking at guys that have, once they've made that
decision, five years down the road, how they're doing and just how much they've changed. And
so it's really seeing people change, I think, is really the greatest part of it.
