Now, I've found that there's a whole lot of BS out there surrounding location
independence and remote workers.
(Dancing: Mr. Bean's Holiday)
So I thought we would do this video a little
differently. More precisely in a 'first day of camp, awkward icebreaker sort of
style' by busting out an old classic: Two truths and a lie.
So I'll be telling you three facts about location independence that the Internet
actually makes you believe and you can see if you can spot the BS.
So if you're ready let's play!
#1 Being location independent doesn't mean that you have to travel full-time or
travel at all really. #2 When you go location independent you're gonna have a
lot of free time and you're gonna be able to just work by the pool or from a
sandy beach, especially in the middle of the day, that's really good for your
laptop. #3 You have to be organized and be able to hold yourself accountable
because there's gonna be no one around to tell you what to do, how to do it, or
when it needs to be done. Did you guess it?
Yeah those photos of people on the beach or by the water with their laptops in 30
degree heat drinking a margarita... Not so realistic! Don't get me wrong, I love an
occasional hammock office and I love a good view while working online. But don't
be fooled, being your own boss often means late nights and early mornings and
there's a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes of those
picture-perfect office days. Now another common misconception that I've been
hearing a lot about is the fact that being location independent means that
you have to travel, and that's certainly not the case. For a lot of people being
location independent just means that you're able to catch up with a friend
for a 2 p.m. cup of coffee on a Tuesday afternoon, now for others it does mean
traveling to exotic places because they're able to take their work with
them wherever they go. More than anything this type of lifestyle just means that
you're able to work as much or as little as you need to, charge the rates that you
want to charge, work with the clients that you want to work with, and live life
the way that works for you. All you have to decide is that you want it more than
you're afraid of it. I hope you guys really enjoy this video and if you did
make sure to like it, subscribe to our channel and answer this really simple
question for me: If you could work from anywhere in the world where would that
be? Whether it's at home with your kids or from a cruise ship in Antarctica,
either way, I want to know! So make sure to pop your answer in the comments below.
Thank you so much for watching and until next time, keep creating the life you love
