Welcome back to Campus Spotlight where you can get your know-how about what's happening
here at WKCTC. I'm your student host Max Curry.
On this edition of Campus Spotlight, we're going to be talking about financial aid refunds
and FAFSA. And here's Angel Rhodes to tell you more about it.
Hi, I'm Angel Rhodes, a WKCTC financial aid coordinator at West Kentucky Community and
Technical College and I'm here today to talk to you about the financial aid refund
dates. I wanted to make sure that all the students are aware that the first disbursements
for financial aid will begin on February 22, that's assuming that you had everything completed
in time. Financial aid disbursements will continue throughout the semester as you turn
in the appropriate documentation.
Students..uh…will be receiving a KCTCS Higher One debit card in the mail. It's a very important
that you log into the website at kctcshigheronedebitcard.com
and tell us how you would like to receive your refund. If you don't tell us how you
want to receive your refund, there can be a significant delay, as a paper check can
take up to two weeks.
One of the great features of financial aid is we now have a 24/7, 365, GO KCTCS Student
Service Center. You can call anytime at 1-855-GOWKCTC and receive any assistance that you need.
The first step to applying for financial aid is completing the online FAFSA application.
It stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid and can be located at
www.fafsa.ed.gov. It's important to make sure that you to to .gov and not .org or .com because
the application is free. If they're asking you pay for it, you're on the wrong site.
The priority deadline to complete the FAFSA application for students that would like to
be in classes in the summer semester is March 1st. However if you're planning
to begin classes in the fall semester beginning in August, you have until June 1st. It is
our recommendation that you complete the FAFSA application as soon as possible because some
state grants are issued on a first-come,first-serve basis, and the sooner
you apply for the FAFSA, the sooner we can let you know what you're eligible for.
Remember if you need assistance, our GO KCTCS Student Service Center is available 365, 24/7
at 1-855-GOWKCTC.
Thanks a lot Angel and we'll see you next time on Campus Spotlight.
