My name is Peter Grönros and I work as an Incident Commander for NÄRF.
My task on fire alarms is to be in charge of the incident.
Which means if there is an alarm on one of our 9 stations I am always involved.
And depending on the call it is I who control the different units.
The base is the pre decided plans that we get from the emergency central
which we then can start to change
If it is a bigger call I also head out to the scene of the accident
and try to control that every unit are where they are supposed to.
I have some aids that help me to do the best I can
Amongst other things we have this computer screen here
Here I get information about the emergency, both some text and position.
And of course a gps that guides me towards the position.
Furthest down here we have the Status panel
it is something that is getting bigger and bigger in Sweden
where we can simplify communication and give information, very good!
In here we also have lots of information about buildings, pre decided plans etc.
We also have some information regarding contracts, phone lists etc.
We have emergency plans for objects, objects with high risks, recourses that we can need etc, works great.
This is an emergency plan for a water power plant.
It is one of our biggest objects
This is a map over the area, we need this at bigger emergencies
Here we can see the layout of the turbines
We have the fire alarm system here, a bit small here but better when we print it out.
Back here we have the same things as on the small screen in the front.
Here we can manage, document and print the plans out.
We also have RIB (Swedish program for emergency services)
Everything for dangerous goods to forest fires...
It is very good to have
It requires some training to be able to use it and to navigate.
Here we have a plan for sulfur dioxide
Here we have characteristics, pictures, what to do etc. Very good help for me to print out.
So this is a very good tool.
And I have of course both radios and telephones to use to this.
Today we should work very much with others, not only with fire & rescue but also with police and the emergency central.
And while doing this we still have some limitations
I can get a phone call from the police at the emergency central
and they can have information about who lives in the building
and they can send this to me
but we have not come that far, but that could help a lot.
Today we document more then we have done before
we use digital tools on the scene
we use the IR camera and save the video that we get from the interior crew.
But today we can only access this material on scene locally
we have no system that we can use to send it back to the command post
except from the ordinary mobile phones and MMS etc.
On the vehicle we also have some other tools
We have an IR camera with memory inside so that we can record what we see.
A good tool for documentation.
We have some tools to measure various gases
a little more advanced than the tools on the Engines.
Dräger like most uses, an instrument to test different gases.
Intensiometer, gas tracker, leakage finder spray
We also have our own SCBA if we should need it.
It is not often this is used but when we need it.
We have some of the emergency information also on Paper
We have some marking vests to be able to manage a bigger emergency scene.
This vehicle we have now is good to use for Incident Commanders
It is a tool to use as a command post on the scene.
