Because we're driving all day.
Audi R8 GT Spyder, quite special.
Only 330 are made, and two of those are going to be driven by us.
That's why we don't have a lot of time, and should start with the story by driving the car.
Let's start with this car's biggest strength.
Because without the roof it's easy to enjoy the V10.
It's kind of strange to drive this car.
That's not only because of the weather, a convertible needs to be driven without the roof.
It's weather to be indoors at the fireplace with a bowl of crisps.
But it’s also because of the car itself, the Audi R8 GT Spyder.
We're familiar with the R8 GT Spyder, you too because you all had a chance to drive this car.
This is the R8 super sport version but without the roof.
On the one hand you save quite some weight...
... there are carbon reinforced plastics used for a lot of bodywork parts, the fenders for instance.
The seats are much lighter, saving up to 70 lbs.
In total this car has 188 lbs more weight.
Then Audi cuts the roof, reducing even more weight.
But then they install a textile roof including a open and close mechanism.
This isn't the lightest R8 available.
But who cares, it might be the coolest R8 that’s around.
With the V10 5.2L engine, it has more break horse power.
Normally 525 bhp, now it´s 560 bhp.
And because it´s lighter, it goes from 0-60 much faster.
3.8 seconds whilst the normal spyder takes 4 seconds.
It should have tighter control, and I deliberately say should.
Because at the moment we're driving with snow tyres.
That too fits under an R8.
It's a hint, you can take your R8 with you when you’re going on a winter sport holiday.
But of course this means you'll lose some feel...
... the tyres are constantly moving a little bit, especially when you're braking or steering.
Then you feel that the car goes like this.
And when you go all out, using all the power it has...
... safeguard yourself because this car will go all over.
And then the colour, it's only for the R8 GT Spyder.
I forgot the official the Audi-term, so we'll just call it matte pornblue.
Not available for other Audi's or R8's.
So if you want this car, you need to be quick since only two cars will be released on the Dutch market.
I'll just go and tour a bit more.
