KRISTAL: Kristal Wick here with Artbeads Café. We have all things caffeinated and Cynthia
and Mother's Day. We're celebrating Mother's Day.
CYNTHIA: That's true, yes.
KRISTAL: We love Mother's Day. We love getting ready for it. We know you do too, and so we
thought we would show you some fun things to make for your mom -- jewelry, accessories,
and displays.
CYNTHIA: Yes.
KRISTAL: So sometimes you -- right, sometimes you show displays and you want to give the
whole package to your mom. Then we're going to show you some fun stuff. So welcome, everybody.
Shall I start?
CYNTHIA: Okay, go for it.
KRISTAL: Okay, here we go. All right, I think it's really fun to make greeting cards and
have jewelry attached, so I did some watercolors. These are my original watercolors, and then
I actually made copies of them so that I could make lots of greeting cards.
CYNTHIA: That's a good idea.
KRISTAL: And then I made jewelry, little earrings, and I did some grommets and added the jewelry,
earrings, and you have the whole package. It comes with a really cute little envelope,
and then if you wanted to sell these or do something, you could put them in a cellophane
bag and sell the whole kit and caboodle. Really cute. So it's kind of two in one.
CYNTHIA: It is really cute. And very personal.
KRISTAL: Exactly, yeah, and for any age, so you could make really youthful ones, you could
make older, more elegant ones. It's just kind of a stylized thing. So very fun. Now Cynthia,
oh my goodness, show us what you've made. This is absolutely to die for. Oh.
CYNTHIA: Thank you. Let's start with the one in front of you. I went to a craft store and
I saw this really cute little house, and I painted it white. I thought that would be
really nice for hanging things. Here, we just put some hook, and then you can put your bracelet
and rings inside.
KRISTAL: That's so adorable. So you used cup hooks underneath there. That's all you did.
CYNTHIA: That's all.
KRISTAL: Oh.
CYNTHIA: Then you have to put some colors and some bling, right?
KRISTAL: Of course.
CYNTHIA: So I just glued some flatbacks on it, and that's it.
KRISTAL: That is so cute, and it matches my outfit. Thank you, Cynthia. You're so thoughtful.
I love how the little container in there can hold your rings and bracelets, and then you
can hang your necklaces and hang it as tall as you want.
CYNTHIA: Exactly.
KRISTAL: Oh, so cute. Very, very cute. Easy to do. Everybody could do this.
CYNTHIA: Very easy.
KRISTAL: Oh, adorable.
CYNTHIA: It was nothing complicated.
KRISTAL: So cute.
CYNTHIA: And then I have this piece here. Those are clothes hangers, and I thought those
would be great for jewelry too. And Devin, my husband, just went outside, cut a piece
of wood, and just screwed this hanger inside.
KRISTAL: That's a great idea. And then it's really portable. Like you could put it inside
your bedroom, you could put it in your bathroom. It looks like it would go in a lot of different
decors. Very cute.
CYNTHIA: And then I wanted to create a little more, so I did this one here with some drawer
KRISTAL: Drawer pulls.
CYNTHIA: Drawer pulls. So I went to a hardware store, and I found those fencepost caps.
KRISTAL: So the top that you put on a fencepost, just that one piece?
CYNTHIA: Yes.
KRISTAL: That's what this is?
CYNTHIA: Yes.
KRISTAL: Oh my goodness.
CYNTHIA: So I painted it, and then did some collage with this really nice paper. Then
my husband drilled the holes, and we put those knobs in there, and here we are, and you
can put it on the wall.
KRISTAL: That's adorable. Oh my goodness, look at that. And the drawer pulls come in
so many styles and colors. They're adorable. I love how you mixed styles on this one piece.
CYNTHIA: And you can find them anywhere. Very easy to find.
KRISTAL: What a great idea. That's a really nice gift.
CYNTHIA: And you can imagine, you can make more than one, and you can put on the wall
the different ones.
KRISTAL: A whole wall full. That would be cute. And in their style, whatever they like,
their colors. Everybody needs these. Everyone needs to hang up their jewelry, so oh my goodness,
that's a really good idea, Cynthia.
CYNTHIA: Thank you. Then something even simpler is this board that you can find anywhere,
and I used some cork. You want to make sure that your jewelry won't slide, so that's why
I glued those -- those are just decoupage beads, papier mache beads that I glued on
top.
KRISTAL: These are our decoupage beads. It gives it -- the whole thing has a whole character
to it because of those beads, because these are just corks.
CYNTHIA: Yeah, they're just cork.
KRISTAL: How easy is that?
CYNTHIA: And then I used some pushpins, like that, and put a little flatback on it.
KRISTAL: Of course.
CYNTHIA: To give some colors also.
KRISTAL: A little bling'll do ya. That's a really great idea.
CYNTHIA: And very, very quick and simple.
KRISTAL: And very inexpensive.
CYNTHIA: Yes.
KRISTAL: Oh, I love it.
CYNTHIA: Then my last project, it took a little more time, but I just loved it. I went to
this place where you find everything for a dollar. I love that place. You can find so
much. I saw this basket, and I thought, "Oh, what a great basket to hang earrings. You
can put so many earrings on that." So I painted it white, and at the hardware store, I found
those two pieces at the bottom. They are also fencepost caps.
KRISTAL: Fencepost caps. You really went to town with these fencepost -- who would think
to do that? That's really a good idea.
CYNTHIA: Thanks. And they both have a screw, so you just screw them together, and I can
lift that up.
KRISTAL: Let's see. Oh, I see.
CYNTHIA: And here, you just -- I slid the basket on top of it and put a --
KRISTAL: A washer?
CYNTHIA: Yes.
KRISTAL: Yeah, kind of bold. So that's all one piece right there now, and then you just
put your little bird on top.
CYNTHIA: I put a bird, yes.
KRISTAL: I suppose if you wanted it to be permanent, you could just glue that right
on top. That is really cute.
CYNTHIA: The only thing you have to do is to paint those caps, and that's it.
KRISTAL: Oh my goodness, these were so fun and easy. I also love how many earrings that
display holds. Look at how many you've got on there.
CYNTHIA: Yes, you just have to create that many earrings.
KRISTAL: That's the hard part, right? Well, not for us -- or you, out there in Artbeads
land. Oh, that's really sweet. And again, it could be any theme, because they have all
these -- like a little bird. You've got all kinds of things you could put on top of that.
CYNTHIA: Yes, you can find -- I mean, I love birds, so that's why I put a bird, but if
you maybe like gardening or anything else, you can put something else.
KRISTAL: Like I say, you've missed your calling in creating displays. These are really great
displays, too, if you're doing craft shows or selling your work or trying to take some
nice pictures for your Etsy store or something, these are great displays to use for that.
CYNTHIA: That's true.
KRISTAL: Cynthia, very cool.
CYNTHIA: Oh, thanks.
KRISTAL: Cynthia, it's time for Kristal Wick's Picks, where I get to share some of my favorite
things with you guys, and whoa... Jesse James Baubles. I call them baubles because I -- it
-- ah -- speechless. Can I say -- I mean, they're so fabulous. There are so many different
things. There's glass, there's metal, there's shiny, there's blingy. Look, there's animal
prints. These are so fun.
I've got to say, they come on strands like this, and to guarantee something that's absolutely
perfect to wear, you just restring it. I mean, you don't even have to do another design if
you don't want to. It's the simplest of simple. Or you can go very elaborate and you could
add maybe chain to the top. You can make this into a bracelet. You can make all these earrings,
which is really fun. So they're versatile. The strands I think are really versatile because
they come already mixed for you. It's like they've already done the design for you, so
you're on your own as far as coming up with another element to add, or just use it as-is.
CYNTHIA: And I love this type of beads. I think it's so much fun like that.
KRISTAL: I do too.
CYNTHIA: Like this white here, too. I think it's so great.
KRISTAL: Yeah, I thought this could be a fun wedding thing, if somebody wanted to do a
little bit of glitz to their wedding, because it's just really kind of ethnic looking. Just
very nice flavors.
CYNTHIA: And every strand has such a good combination together. Like this one, too,
super busy, but still it works really well.
KRISTAL: It works. Right, exactly. And look at that. Oh my gosh. How elegant. These also
-- you know, one of the things I thought these would be great for are lampshade pulls. You
know like the lamp pulls or the fans, the fan pulls? I mean, how cool is that, right?
So anyway, love them. Every single one. I don't know which one I would pick. That would
be the hard part.
CYNTHIA: You want them all.
KRISTAL: I know I do. I think you all do, too. Oh my goodness. So that's Kristal Wick's
Picks. Love it. Thanks for joining me, Cynthia, and thank you for joining us at Artbeads Café,
where we have all things caffeinated and very bauble-y, right now. Join us on YouTube and
