It's the biggest event on NZ's gay calendar,
and organisers believe this year's will be bigger than ever.
Oriini Tipene-Leach caught up
with a couple of the current reigning drag queens.
It's the grand finale of the Auckland Pride festival.
And this year's Pride Parade
promises to be bigger and better than last year's.
A $100,000 grant
from Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development
and other sponsors
has enabled over 80 Pride events to take place over 18 days.
Iconic Maori drag queen Miss Ribena will shine bright on Parade Day.
Festival after festival,
Miss Ribena has seen it all in her 15 year career,
and she says it'll continue to evolve.
At 7pm the parade will set-off from Western Park.
There's a total of 48 floats
and organisers are expecting a crowd of around 30-50,000.
The free family event takes place on Feb 22.
