>> Hi. I'm Jess Chen.
I'm a 12, and I'm here at Dartmouth with some
of the members of the Aires.
They recently premiered on NBC's Sing-Off,
which is an all vocal a cappella competition.
[Members of the Aires, "Hi, Jess"]
So I think we'll start off by asking,
how did you originally get on the show?
How did you hear about it?
>> We had been approached by a couple of the producers
from the show back in early April, encouraging us to come
and audition, and we went down to Boston one of the first weeks
of spring term and did a really fun audition there for them
and did their whole bunch
of casting interviews and stuff like that.
Then we ended up sending them a few other materials
over the course of our audition process, and then we found
out after graduation, during commencement and reunion period,
when we actually were all singing on campus for a bunch
of the reunions that we were going to be on the show.
>> So after the celebration of actually getting onto the show,
how did you end up prepping for the show?
Did you work with a choreographer much?
>> On this kind of show,
you have to reach a different audience than what,
you know, we usually do.
So we had to consider actually what songs we were going
to sing, and that was really important.
That took a lot of time to figure out,
and then after that we just really,
really focused on sounding our best.
This was very stressful, and it pushed us a lot
of different directions preparing
for the show, you know.
So we rehearsed a lot.
>> So when you were on the show, obviously,
there are other teams, was the competition very high amongst
you or did you get to bond with them?
>> Well, all the groups are so talented,
and it was such an honor singing with all the groups
because we learned so much from them.
At first I thought it would be a really intense process,
especially, with the contestants,
but actually we were friends with every single group.
Every group was so humble, so nice,
and like when we had questions,
they would answer it and vice versa.
It was such an incredible opportunity because we got
to learn so much from those groups,
and I think we're a better group for it.
>> Has there been a reaction since you've been back?
>> Even people who wouldn't necessarily go
to Aires' concerts, Aires' shows normally, have been coming
up to us and giving us a lot of support.
So the response from the student body here
at Dartmouth has been unbelievable.
There's been like response from alumni.
People who I've never even met before have reached out to us
and congratulated us on it, and I know we all feel like,
you know, we were really proud of the work that we did
and what we put into the competition.
So it's awesome to see such positive responses
from everybody from the Dartmouth community.
>> So you can catch the Aires on Monday, October 10th,
at 8:00 Eastern on NBC's Sing-Off.
To give us a little taste, Aires, could you sing us off?
>> Yeah.
>> Sure.
>> Yeah.
>> All right.
One, two, three...
