Nadya: Hey, welcome to step number 7. So this is awesome! Social Media, let's get right
in it. Okay, the first that I wanna get right off the bat. There's a right way and a wrong
way to do it. And I'm telling you, when you take a look at social media platforms, they
are there for you to connect with people, they are there for you to build relationships.
Its no different than you walking into a party, right..or into a networking event, what would
you do when you walk into an networking event?
John: Hey everybody, I see burn. Its really good. Look at me!!
Nadya Laughing: Right, so you would never do that. If you were in a situation with people
right, what you would normally go is you would go say hello. You would use the form, hopefully,
to build rapport, you would ask questions, you would get to know people, right. So what
I see people do and John I'm sure you do that as well. Its really amateurs in business when
they get excited about something, they go on social media screaming "Hey look at me
and here's my company on the website. You're fat you need to loose weight." Do you understand?
It does not work.
John: "All you fat people, here's a way to lose weight. If you're tired, its because
you are unhealthy, here's a healthy energy drink." That does not work. It annoys people.
Its obnoxious and even if you're not like that, perhaps its a little extreme example.
But even if you're just posing pictures everyday verbima verbima, nothing else. you know, if
you posted, lets say two things or three things a day about Vemma, but you also posted another
five, six, seven things about like your family and you know here's a positive quote by John
Maxwell, you know you wanna mix it in there, blend it in there. So they see that you're
more than just this Vemma brand partner. Again, we're excited. You're excited. But we're also
trying to help you actually get the results that you are looking for. And realize this
too and Nadya, you probably wanna talk about Edge drinking but there's only a handful people
that actually see what you post. You might have a thousand friends, but because facebook's
algorithm, they have this certain way that only certain people that you are actually
interacting with see your stuff without going to theirs.
Nadya: So what you are posting, not everybody can actually see what you are posting. So
the key to success..
John: Nadya hold it, they CAN, but they have to go to your facebook page, so what your
posting is not going to be on your news feeds automatically. Crazy!
Nadya: So the key to success when it comes to social media, number 1, I wanna mention
this, is you wanna follow 90/10 rule, okay. So the 90% of the time, you should be posting
something that is valuable. I highly recommend www.nadyamelton.com to the branding portion
of that website because ultimately, you're building your brand. You're building your
name, although we Vemma, I'm telling you we're so grateful for the opportunity but at the
end of the day, I'm building my name, John is building his name and so that just you
know, think about people like Daren Harty, who by the way he hit his start in network
marketing. Jim Rone got started in network marketing, Danie Johnson who I love who was
my mentor for many many years, all of them started in network marketing but they are
branding other passions that they have. So you want to be thinking on a higher level
and so for an example, if you have a passion for, I dont know, organizing parties or grooming
kids, or fitness, so naturally you can talk about things that you are fired up about and
then 10% of the time should be promoting a business, a product, or whatever. Okay, so
that's very very important to realize. Now also, I will tell you that if you had a choice
to share your statement or write something in text, then post a picture and then post
a video. So this is huge here because you know how they say picture is worth a thousand
words? Video is worth a million words. So which is why we are doing video for you. I
read a statistic, right John I told you this, I told John because this is amazing that if
somebody reads something in a text, they were to gain 10% but if they watch it in the video,
they retain something like 85% or 90%, isnt that wild? And so that's a huge thing. So
why not use that for your business, why not record videos with the family. 2-5 minutes
long. Why not talk about your passions, why not have a little fun with it, do you know
understand? And they create curiosity, you might go viral, if you have a fun personality
my gosh, please get in front of the camera. I like to laugh, I wanna see it. Alright,
so..
John: Maybe you're controversial. People love that.
Nadya: Controversial people love controversy as well.
John: People are drawn towards the drama, drawn towards the negative. Have fun with
it, you gotta be controversial with a smile.
Nadya: Okay, so you also want to ask open ended question. So create engagement on your
page. Also baby, lets share a couple secrets to success connected on facebook. This is
huge, take notes of these, I'm telling you.
John: Here's some of my favorite, alright. First of all, when you post something, dont
you love when someone likes it? Or love when they comment on it? I know I do. You post
a picture, and someone likes it says "Oh my gosh, you look so good or that looks so good
or you're son's so..
Nadya: That shirt is amazing, baby.
John: See? It worked. I'm happier, I feel good. So anyway, if you want people to interact
in your page, you wanna interact in their page. Comment, like. Suppose you have someone
you're interested in and you know what I mean, partnering with, you're interesting and you
find them interesting, you wanna get to know them. You know, maybe you think "Oh man, I
wanna open up the Florida marketplace, this guy lives in Florida. You're not gonna hit
them up and say 'Hey man, I got a business for you, you need to get in it.' You dont
do that, you might wanna just say 'Hey Bob, how are you, you know you can send them a
private message, which I love sending out private messages. You could post something
on one of their pictures, something on their wall, their facebook wall, you could interact
with them on instagram or twitter or you know send them some type of a message on linked
in, whatever. The point is, you wanna create some interaction with that person whether
its a private message, a comment. Also, when there's an anniversary, a birthday party or
someone's birthday. Try sending them a private message. Try it, dont post that on their wall.
They're not gonna see it. The birthday on the wall is one of a hundred or a thousand.
But a private message " Hey Bob, happy birthday. How are things?' Hey Nadya, happy birthday!
Got any big plans?" and then if she responds, now you can start interacting, im telling
you some of the people I've introduced to my business in Vemma, some of the people that
I have actually had joined the team is because I initially sent them a "How you doing?" message
or a "Happy Birthday" message or a "Congratulations on the engagement" message. Private message.
Nadya: Private message is the key to success.
John: And I want you to have the goal of contacting or connecting with 3-5 new people a day.
Nadya: Right, start to conversate, not to sell a pitch, not to sell a pitch, but to
start to conversate.
John: Even if they ask you "Hey what are you doing?" just say oh im doing a couple of different
things, what are you doing? You wanna have a little back and forth, even if you send
them a message today and they miss the message, and respond a month from now, just think that
that's a lead for a month from now. You know I got people that I started a conversation
with years ago and they just today got involved in the business.
Nadya: That is true. So just you never want to stop developing relationships. So again,
social media, if there's one statement that you remember. Social media is build to connect
with people. Its not to go and just blast your wall. It really does not work. Oh my
gosh, it does not work. So its about connecting, you're planting seeds..
John: And then Nadya, when you meet somebody, what do you do? Do you just pounce on them?
Nadya: Hey let me connect the dots for you okay, so we talked about the offline building
and then mixing it with the online because you have to be high tech, you have to be high
touch. So what I do personally, when I connect with someone, I never talk about what I do
first second, maybe even third time i meet somebody, okay. So I really focus on them.
Like yeah, Id say I have a couple businesses and I keep them curious. Curiosity is the
key to success. Mysterious, John is really good at it. And also, whoever is asking the
questions is in charge of the conversation so I like to be in charge and I like to ask
questions and I like to find their needs, i like to find their goals, i like to get
to know someone and find out what is it that's really motivating them. And if I can help
them in some shape or form and bring value to them, naturally they're gonna be so interested
because I am telling you, its not a norm in today's world. Okay, so what you are looking
to do is ask a lot of questions, and then when I meet somebody out and about, offline,
networking event, party, whatever it is, the first thing that I do is I make sure I become
friends with them on facebook and then I connect with them on facebook, I go in and check out
some of their pictures, I like some of their stuff because also what happens is4 when you
interact with that person, they now start to see your posts. So thats the key to realize
that. The algorithm because they see that you are interacting, will start showing in
your news feed.
John: I noticed everytime wish someone a happy birthday, all of a sudden now they're in my
news feed. Before they weren't.
Nadya: And then another thing that I do is somebody sending me friend requests, okay
and I maybe dont know then and as you start to build up your brand, you're gonna start
to notice that. People are starting to send you requests so approve it and send them a
private message. Or if you're going to send somebody a friend request, make sure you always
do a personal note. This is so so key to success. Right there, okay. So We talked about sharp
professional photo, this is so key to success and also you know what, find somebody that
you like, find somebody like I like looking at John's wall, right check out my wall and
see what we do and so just find somebody that obviously you like the way that they carry
themselves when it comes to the internet and online and just copy what they do. Does that
make sense? Not maybe necessarily exactly what they're posting, but their strategy.
So stick to 90/10 rule. Make sure you have a professional photo, yet the rate of anything,
the branding stuff, I would brand you first of all, have a profile with a sharp picture
and then maybe a background photo. Have a family picture something that's like a hobby
of yours, do you understand? You're looking to be attractive. I dont know how else John..
John: You want them to say, I wanna get to know that guy or Id like to get to know that
woman. She seems like a family person or a fun person or you know, a person of integrity
whatever. And you know if you're on there, just yeah, its Vemma this and Vemma that,
the thing is nobody knows what Vemma is and it just kind of seems like you're like a tele
marketer or you know just like a sales person you know so you still wanna have that human
element to your page, to your profile and then like I said, you could have the occasional
video or picture.
Nadya: 10% of the time. And also, think about it, if your only stuff you have on your page
is Vemma stuff, well who you're attracting is people who are already in Vemma, okay.
So which is not what your page should be.
John: Oh my gosh, I have 50 like from other Vemma people!
Nadya: That's not bringing you any business.
John: So you wanna have, like i post something and get a person that maybe doesnt normally
like something, they'll like it. Or someone I dont know. And I send them a message, 'Hey
Bob thanks for liking my comment", "Thanks for liking my picture."
Nadya: Yeah, just find a way to connect with people, is really all that we're saying. So
make sure your branding you, be a human being. 90% of the time, find ways to bring value
because check it out, ultimately we are all entrepreneurs, now definition of an entrepreneur
is somebody who finds a problem and brings solution to the market place. So you have
giftings outside of maybe just the Vemma stuff, right. Like maybe there's other profession
and maybe you have a traditional business. Well why not offer value that you have like
what problems did you have that you overcame? Does that make sense? Which is why a lot of
our stuff I talked about social media insights and branding insights or different stuff.
So that being said, 90/10. Stick to that rule. And if see other Vemma people doing this,
hey, give them a wink. Do you know what I mean, let them know..Hey dont do that.
John: Send them this video! We are professionals that are utilizing social media the proper
way so you get the results you're really looking for which is why you're posting what you're
posting in the first place
Nadya: Exactly! Alright, awesome!! We'll see you in the next step!
