So here we have our completed set of mugs and we have pulled handles for them. And the
last thing we are going to do is attach the handles. And to attach the handles what we
do is we do a process called slipping and scoring and scoring is a very self explanatory
process of simply scoring the clay. Slipping is a process of using slip or we could also
call it clay glue. Now what I am going to do is show you how to mix up some slip. We
can simply take some old clay that we have laying around on the table as long as it is
clean and put it into a bowl. Sometimes you can find some leftover stuff in the bottom
of your bucket that you might want to use, however, if you don't have your bucket around
you simply take some water, put some clay into it, take a fork or something and mash
it up. Then we want to let that clay sit in the water for a while, come back and what
we'll have is a substance like this which is slip, looks a bit like chocolate pudding
and you can see the consistency there. It is pretty much just like chocolate pudding
in terms of consistency and this is the glue that we use to stick the handles on to the
mugs. Okay so now I have shown you how to mix up the slip and given you a little idea
of what the scoring is all about and we are going to now put a handle on to a mug and
we are going to do that next.
