7 Essential Rudiments Lesson by Vitor Lambert - Part 3
Score at: vitorlambert.com.br/index.php/licoes.html
Hi, I´m Vitor Lambert and this is the third part of the 7 Essential Rudiments Lesson.
As I promised on the last lesson,
today we´re gonna do some exercises to achieve coordination,
speed and precision on the Single, Double roll and Paradiddle.
I talked a lot in the last lessons,
so let´s get straight to the point.
Before I start I´ll tell you one last thing, I promise.
I did talk a lot before, but I forgot to mention something very important:
Ear protection.
So, always have an ear protector and use it, of course.
Remember that ear damage is irreversible, ok?
Now let’s check out the first exercise.
This first exercise is for coordination with the Single roll.
I’ll play from the snare to the floor tom leading with my right hand
and will do the opposite leading with my left hand.
I’ll repeat the left hand on the floor tom and repeat the right hand on the snare.
Ok? Let’s see it.
The next exercise is about speed and precision.
We’ll practice it with the Single, Double roll and Paradiddle.
I’ll demonstrate only with my right hand leading and won´t take so long to increase tempo.
But remember to study leading with the two hands and increase tempo gradually.
Now with the Long roll.
This exercise with the Paradiddle, naturally alternates hand leading.
First measure with the right hand, second measure with the left hand.
It’s a lot easier studying with the score.
You can download it at: www.vitorlambert.com.br on the link “Lições”
I’ll demonstrate it very slow.
In this next exercise we’ll orchestrate the rudiments on the drum set.
It isn’t a melodic orchestration yet. It’s just a technique exercise.
Let´s see it with the Single roll.
With the Long roll.
And with the Paradiddle.
The last exercise of this lesson is about speed.
We´ll play 32nd notes on first and third beat
and 16th notes on the second and fourth beat.
The idea is to speed up on a beat and relieve on the next beat.
Starting with the Single roll.
Now with the Long roll.
Like the 16th and 16th triplets exercise, this one with the Paradiddle,
naturally alternates hand leading as well.
I’ll demonstrate it very slow.
Well, this was the third part of the 7 Essential Rudiments lesson.

On the next part, the subject will be the 7 Essential Rudiments solo.
Have fun studying. See ya.
