Hello, Janet Beckers here with your very unusual Wonderful Web tip this week. This week, I'm
shooting from Belmont Hospital. So, to find out why I am a shooting an episode of Wonderful
Web TV from a hospital, and the significance of this and for you and your business as well,
better come and look inside.
Thanks for joining me. So, why am I shooting Web TV episode in front of a hospital? Well,
because a few nights ago, I had to call an ambulance for my mother to take her to the
hospital really quickly. I live a couple of hours away from my mom, so as soon as I got
an ambulance, I was in the car and out of there to be with her.
It really reinforced for me this last few days is just how fantastic to build a business
that gives me such flexibility; I can drop things, run out from home. I didn't pack laptops,
I didn't pack lots of folders, I just took off and I could use her computer.
So, I just want to share with you few ways you can make sure that your business will
give you that flexibility. Let's look at a couple of really simple things that you can
do.
1. Always ask yourself, "If I implement this, am I going to be able to run this from anywhere
else?"
2. Make it really easy for yourself. For example, I've actually been negotiating joint ventures
with people while I've been up here, and they needed to have the one information from me
on my products, on my bio, on my photographs, all of that sorts of things.
If you know you that there is something that you are likely to have to send to somebody
more than once; create a page on your website that has all of the information that you can
just send somebody one link and then they'll be able to get all the info. So you don't
have to do that toing and froing. That's one simple way.
When you are designing things that you can be doing with your clients, can you make it
so that it can be both done by telephone and it can be done via email or group setting.
Things that you can access via the internet, so that you aren't reliant on having to be
on your place to turn up or them calling you. That's sorts of things. Make it so that it
is really easy to use online services.
There's just a couple of things that are really important. When it comes to your email you
don't want to be downloading all your email onto your computer so you can only use your
computer. Use online services like gmail, use your calendar like gmail. Use services
like basecamp which allows you to communicate with your team and share private information.
There are so many resources out there that enable you to run your business, so you are
not tied to one place and one point in time. So my question to you is, "Have you had a
situation like this where you've just have to drop everything to be with people that
you love but still want to run your business? Have you got any suggestions on things that
really make it easy for people to be able to do this remotely.
I would love to hear from you. My mom's going to be okay, I'm sure many of you will ask,
so she's going to be okay. She just needs us there. And I'm just so happy that I can
be here for her. So I'd love to hear your comments down below as always and I will come
and leave comments from my mom's computer. Bye!
