- It was a Russian music. Even the basses
were Russian. Naturally, we wanted to show
in what we are strong.
- You have become conductors of Russian culture.
- Quite right, especially in the year of culture
- And after that, after Kufstein we moved to Italy. The main part of the concert
tour took place in Italy. There were numerous concerts.
It's enough to say that only in Milan we had two concerts.
There was a huge concert hall in the city of Bari.
It is a famous hall of the theater Petruzzelli in which...
- At first, it is very similar to the Grand Theatre - internally.
- It's necessary to say that nothing similar to our Grand Theatre
I haven't seen anywhere in Italy.
Even the famous La Scala, which we know by their names, who acted as soloists there.
- Yes, and just now Don Juan has been showed there
- Absolutely right.
- But even Belza managed to mention unsightly of this building.
Outside. - Our concert hold on.
A national actress of the USSR Eliso Virsaladze was a soloist.
She was playing Schumann's Concert.
Well, the orchestra showed itself just fine.
At first, we started with the performance of the Italian hymn as it must be.
It was an opening of the regular, seventieth symphonic season in the theater.
And we have played - of course the audience stood up.
We performed, then we performed our anthem -it just gave a solemn sound.
And quite a different mood.
- The audience just stood at the end of the concert.
Standing ovation. We outplayed all the basses.
- Did you play the Schumann's concert?
- And the 5th symphony of Tchaikovsky.
- All the basses have been played, and the audience would not let us go.
Of course, it was very pleasant because we know and Voronezh public
loves us, and we are appreciated here in both.
But nevertheless, here is a reception in Italy, in Austria.
After all, Italy is a homeland; I don't want to say...
- Of Musical Arts
- Let's just say a number of composers, from whom the art was started, and with whom it continues.
- Yes, but the musical art of Italy...
- Of course, since Palestrina through Vivaldi, and so forth.
This is an example to be emulated around the world. And there we, in general, have shown themselves...
We have had success. - You were at the height of the requirements
that apply to the musical art in Italy. It's perfect!
- It was very pleasant. And the press, we are waiting for.
Professional press. There were responses in the form of reports.
But the professional press, we are waiting for, we separately agreed it with the organizers of this trip.
We want it to form the basis of historiography that is
carried out by our orchestra on all these performances.
- As for the press, separately I want to thank entrepreneurs of our city,
because they by their own efforts ensured uninterrupted press
coverage of our concert tours.
That is it's in the mode of everyday reportage.
I sent the information and photos in the Gallery of Chizhov and
the group of companies of Hamin in the northern region it was coveraged.
They have enough large circulation.
In the publication of the Group of Evgeny Hamin the circulation is 700,000.
- Well, it's a huge circulation.
- I think that some fans of symphonic music and fans of our orchestra,
maybe have already read about it.
- Well, those who are interested in it know and read.
- Certainly. In the Gallery of Chizhov
reportage number just was helding on in a long passage.
Photos were exhibited. There was description, where the
orchestra at this moment what is happening.
Naturally pictures were not only from the concerts there were
and household photos when we were taken into magistrate Brno,
when we visit the Basilica of Saint Nicholas. Not only musical photos.
Nevertheless, coverage of the event was very good.
And I'd really like to thank all those who participated
in the organization of such coverage of our tours..
- It must be said about the concert in the city of Aquila.
It is the center of Italy. It's approximately at the level of
Rome, but closer to the Adriatic Sea, in the mountains. Beautiful city.
In 2009 it was destroyed at 50% by an earthquake.
There were victims, about 300 people were bereaved.
And then there was a forum of Great Eight, hold in the fall,
who decided to help this city to recover itself.
Buildings were built residential, administrative. And here, in one of those administrative buildings,
where the meeting of the Great eight took place, we gave a concert.
Dignity of the building is not great - it is ordinary administrative.
In the architectural sense is nothing interesting,
moreover, that there is a good acoustic hall.
- In this concert together with us Daniil Trifonov has performed.
We know him as the winner of the last Tchaikovsky's Competition.
But I can tell you that it's almost not to know anything
about him - to know just that
he is a winner of the Tchaikovsky's Competition.
This is a great, young, twenty-year-old,
but a held musician from the class of Vladimir Gorovits.
- What did he play? - We played together a concert by P. Tchaikovsky.
But it doesn’t really matter; he performed an encore of several plays by F. List.
And that is where he showed himself. A solo. Absolutely brilliant.
Vladimir Igorevich had long negotiations
with him since he was quite busy over that period.
First, being a laureate of Tchaikovsky’s Music Contest,
he had certain obligations in tours, and besides he has got his own plans.
We may expect Daniil Trifinov to come here
in May 2013 to perform with our orchestra
and, perhaps, a solo concert.
- Perfect. - That would be great.
For I am certain that the audience of Voronezh
should estimate his musical qualities at their true worth.
- So, Alexander Ivanovich, you have been in the Czech Republic, Austria and Italy.
- Yes, after that we moved to
Nova Gorica, that is in Slovenia. A part of the former Yugoslavia
This is the very north-western part where it sides with Italy.
It takes nothing to move there.
There is the city of Nova Gorica 14 kilometres away from the border.
There we had a concert. Quite a lovely city.
Though it’s already Yugoslavia. It’s deeper in the north.
Nevertheless, it was a wonderful weather there, persimmon fruit on the trees,
right in the centre of the city. The city is not large but it’s very nice.
There was also a very good performance there.
- Was there a lot of the audience?
- The house was all packed. We again got into
some Slavonic elements. It was those moves
which gave the idea of the great difference…
- The idea of the Slavonic mutuality is strong.
- The attitude is warmer and it’s more open. It felt within the city.
- Though we were given a warm welcome there, too.
- But being in the city you feel the atmosphere and it is more closed.
Even taking into account that Italy is a warm southern country.
They are temperamental. Anyway, it’s slightly different.
- Temperament is much stronger.
- After the performance we went back again in Austria,
having had a long way trip around the north of Italy.
After saying good-bye to Italy, we came to Klagenfurt.
The city is famous for being a residence of Gustav Mahler.
Brahms composed his Second Symphony.
- A well-known Austrian city.
- I don’t know any of serious musicians of Austria or some
countries around who has never had
a concert in Klagenfurt “Musik Freite”, exactly where our concert was held.
- Of course, the closeness of this Mahler’s mansion
on the shore of the lake on which the city itself stands.
It is a peculiar cultural space. Everything there speaks for it
in the city and on the playbills, in the monuments and in the buildings.
It was extremely important to perform there.
The acoustic was very good; it helped us by all means.
- And what did you play there?
- We always played Russian music. In that hall we played together
with Eliso Virsaladze a concert by Schumann
and the Fourth Symphony by Tchaikovsky.
Our performance had no introduction at first. Of course, there were the playbills,
someone may buy an applet, but others may not.
It’s not a common thing to ask a neighbour for an applet.
