OK, this is to show how to clip a part of a video to use as an avatar or animated .gif image
I am using a youtube video because most of you know how to grab one of those anyway and because to do this you will need the video to be .avi format (for this method anyway)
The reason I chose a youtube vid is to also show how to convert to .avi in case the video you choose to cut a portion from is NOT a .avi
open avs converter and convert the video to .avi....assuming it is not already :)
once converted open up avidemux and drag the converted video into it (or any .avi video of your choice)
just search for the bit you want to cut from the video and lose the rest....don't worry the original file will not be affected after the cut Just watch, its easier to show than to tell LOL
Once you have the bit you want to keep, save it.
THIS BIT IS IMPORTANT, YOU MUST TYPE .avi AFTER YOU NAME THE FILE
Your video clip is now seperated from the original video and the original is still fully intact. Now if you want to use the clip in an avatar, keep watching
Convert the new clip into a .gif using avs video converter
Open the .gif into CS5
the rest of this is personal choice so watch away to see how to use some of the available tools in CS5
There is a bit i left off of this video, when you want to save a .gif, go to 'file/save for web and devices/then resize as necessary....it is detailed in another of my vids :D
