Hi Steve from Wilhelmy Homes
Hey thanks for stopping by the site we really do appreciate it
Want to talk specifically today on our ongoing series on radon
And you can take a look at the blog list
There's a whole bunch of different topics
This one specifically today I want to talk to buyers
And of new construction houses and how radon can affect you
Here's the long and the short of that is
There's a possibility that radon exists in your house
The building code in Minnesota for the last few years has required a passive radon system
To be installed in new construction houses
And what that is
Is if you go back I'm going to use that big
I like the big technical term
Sub slab depressurization
Big stuff
But basically what it is
It takes the gas that builds up underneath the slab
And vents it out through the attic and rather than having that gas penetrate
Going through the house and potentially be the radon
It gives it another place to go up
The attic
But it's a passing system
So it just has kind of an open stacking you know
If you're really into the whole drafting and differential pressures and all that stuff
It's not going to remove everything because there's nothing really sucking the air out
And that becomes an active system and the way to do that is that
They will actually insert a fan up in the attic
And power the fan that will draw the air out
So when you're buying a new construction house
Things that you're going to want to know about
Is does it have the active system
Is it required to put an active system in
Should you be testing
When should you be testing
All those are great questions that you should be talking to a buyer's agent
That understands this stuff
And understands that how they can ask those right questions to the contractors
Should you be testing before you move in
Should you not move in until you do the testing
What happens if you move in and do the testing
And all of those nuances that we can help you with your options
And lay it out there and connect you to great contractors
And all of those things
So that's the questions that
That you need to answer
And when you're working with us here at Wilhelmy Homes to buy your new construction house
We'll talk you through all those things
We'll give you all the options
We'll connect you to the right resources and let you be able to make great decisions
So you can go through
And say that's how I want to handle my new house
Again take a look at it
Radon is, it's an important thing to talk about
You should know about
You should understand it
But you shouldn't be afraid of it
You shouldn't run away from that perfect new construction house
Because you know it's the right area
It's the right size
It's the right price all of things
But I heard the area has radon
There's ways to work with it
There's absolutely ways to work with it
And we can point you in the direction
And connect you up with the people to make sure your house is fantastic
Thanks for stopping by the site
Really do appreciate it
It's Steve from Wilhelmy Homes
Have a great day
