Hi, this is Eileen Dey, on behalf of Expert Village, and in this segment we'll talk about
what samsara means in Buddhist ideology. Buddha taught that one can overcome attachment to
samsara; to the suffering that occurs just in living a human life. The attachment we
have is just our human nature. We love, we get accustomed to having bodies and material
things, and Buddhism says not that we can't have those things, but to become aware, to
become mindful, to begin to live a life that's structured very much attention to living moment
to moment, and through doing this, as well as other practices which we'll talk about
later in these segments. Through the practices in Buddhism, like meditation and mindful awareness;
as well as following the eight fold path, one is able to liberate oneself, and achieve
a state of nirvana, or transcendence from attachment. In the next segment, we'll talk
about Buddhism schools.
