Hey there, (1) Mace Windu here with Overseas Contractor Academy and today were going
to be talking about one of the best aspects of being an overseas contractor; R&R.
Whether youre married or single, partier or introvert, (2) Jedi or Sith, everyone loves
R&R.
Today well talk about R&R trips and the specifics of whats involved, so stay tuned
you wont want to miss this one.
*run bumper* When working as an overseas contractor, every
so (3) often you get a break.
On these breaks, the company will pay you up to the cost of a flight to your home of
record in the US.
Now, the good news (4) is, ya dont have to go home every time.
So lets say for example a ticket to your home would have been $1500.
You now have 3 choices; go home, go somewhere cheaper than that for free, or go somewhere
more expensive and you pay the difference.
So for the first example, lets say ya go home.
Ya live at (6) the beach in sunny California.
Its nice there(5), so ya want to go home.
Fine, no problem, take the ticket and go home for free.
Come back when youre rested up in a few weeks.
For the next example, lets say youve always wanted to (7) see Rome.
So you tell your company youd rather go there.
Well, the ticket is likely far cheaper to go from the middle east to southern Europe
than it is to fly all the way to California.
So again, (8) the trip is free.
No, sorry, you dont get to keep the difference.
All you get it is a ticket.
And for the last example, lets say youve always wanted to (9) go to Tahiti.
Youve dreamed of staying in one of those little bungalows that sit out over the water.
Well, that trip will probably cost (10) several thousand dollars.
Not to worry though, youre making (11-loop it)contractor money now.
Ballin son!
So in that case the company would get the ticket for you, deduct the $1500 it wouldve
cost them to fly ya home, then hit your next paycheck for the difference.
Its this ability to get tickets to (12) anywhere in the world every so often that
is one of the best perks of being an overseas contractor.
Some contracts allow for R&R trips every 4 months.
Sometimes its every 6 months.
For really cushy jobs in nice places, it may just be once a year because the living conditions
are so good.
It just depends on the company & the contract.
For married people, its quite common for them to take a ticket to elsewhere, then just
pay for their spouse to fly and meet them.
Remember youll (13) have plenty of money, so this wont be a problem.
I have known folks on the east coast that had awesome (14) R&R trips to the Caribbean.
I had friends from the west coast that did either Hawaii or Mexico or even Peru.
I gotta admit, when I (15) saw the pix of Machu Pichu looked pretty badass.
[D: Wait what about going to London?
CK: Yeah, they could go there too dont get your knickers in a twist]
For single folks, its much more common to go to party destinations on their R&R.
So single people often head to places like Spain, Thailand (16) or Brazil.
I have known single people that werent partiers though, and they had awesome trips
to Greece, Scotland and one guy (17) even did a safari in Kenya.
The point is, when ya got someone covering a big chunk of the cost, and you make tons
of money on top of that, it just allows you (18) to live on a different level.
You get to go to all the places youve ever imagined going.
