Globalization Studies is one of the majors on campus that really fit well with my eventual career goals
I think what really made it appealing to me was the fact that I was able to aggregate all of my interests
And put them into one major
I knew I wanted to be a Globalization Studies major before I came to Gettysburg
And that's actually one of the reasons that I came here
because it was one of the most unique programs I have seen
And you can really tailor it to your interests
I was interested in Global Environment and Development, and also Women's Studies
And I ended up being interested in Southeast Asia
In Salamanca, Spain, where I studied abroad
I was able to participate in a social politics internship through my IES course materials
And what that enabled me to do was volunteer at the regional headquarters of the Red Cross
I studied abroad in Vietnam my junior year
And did an independent study project there on cooking in a rural village
Globalization Studies helps me plug into all types of resources throughout campus
And helps me connect with all types of faculty members
And it's because of the nature of the variegated approach of the globalization discipline
