Hi, my name is John Mays. Some people refer to me as “Evil” John Mays. I’m a makeup
effects artist and I’m here to demonstrate some makeup techniques for Expertvillage.com.
What I’m about to do is to put a black kind of shadowing coat over the entire makeup,
kind of make it look a little more dirty, the dirt kind of effect to it. You’ll hear
a noise in the background, that’s the compressor of this air brush. Now that’s what the stuff
looks like and even though I told you that you should wear gloves during this, I haven’t.
For the rarity of time I decided to forgo the gloves and just deal with the stained
skin. You can get air that’s in a can also, but I kind of like having the air brush there
because with the can stuff you’ve got just x amount of time to get things done and your
effect is just about the same. So you can see what I’m doing here is adding some depth,
adding some shadows. The trick is not to leave a big, black splotch on things and not suffocate
your actor. Okay, purse your lips, tilt your head back.
