What constitutes an ENG package? First of all, you have the camera. The camera that
is used in most Third World countries, is still the Betacam Camera. The second is the
sound gear. That consists of a mixer, a shotgun, lavaliers or microphones, a wireless system,
that connects the sound person, via wireless system, to the camera. They don't have to
be connected with a cable. Cables and accessories. Generally, I carry a small lighting kit consisting
of a camera, a back light, a fill light, and two small accent lights, and I also carry
a tool kit, because often, that you get into a Third World country, and you have an equipment
problem, you need the tools to do the repair of the equipment, yourself, and last, and
most important, is videotape. Make sure that you have plenty of videotape, for the length
of the shoot, that you're going to be on. It is also a good idea to have backup equipment,
if at all possible. Also, make sure you have plenty of nine volt batteries. If you have
to be forced into a situation, where you have to get batteries overseas in a Third World
country, generally speaking, they're a very poor quality.
