>> Hey guys, Yume Ninja here!
And welcome to my “Lazy Geek Girl’s Guide to get* 1920’s inspired hair.
That is without having to know how to do finger waves or s-waves or needing hair lotions or
any of that stuff!
This is a really easy easy hairdo, it takes about 20-40 mintues, depending on how fast
you are with curlers or a curling iron. Trust me, the slower you are, the less flyaways
you’ll get.
I did this really quickly so you guys can see all of my flyaways.
But it is a really easy hairstyle to do if you ever need to go to a party or say, if
you’re going to ‘The Great Gatsby’ movie that’s coming out this fall* This is an
easy way to do it. This is how I did it. So let’s get to it!
[voiceover]
So to get started you’re going to need a few tools.
You’re going to want
-A pointed comb, so you can section off your hair
- Some clips to clip off those sections - Lots of bobby pins, some hair spray..
- And you can use hot rollers like I did or a curling iron.
My rollers are about 1-1.5 inches because I like my curls pretty big. If you want tighter,
smaller curls, go ahead and use a smaller barrel. It just means you’re going to have
a lot more curls.
So I’m actually squinting because I’m trying to see myself in the mirror. I’m
not wearing glasses so it’s really hard for me to see.
I’m also doing this quite quickly because I do this hair quite often, so I’m kind
of free handing it.
And I’m also laughing along because as I was doing this, I was watching “Game of
Thrones”.
Starting with the top, go ahead and section your hair vertically. I like to start from
the top to bottom because that’s how the curls are going to sit.
I think that just makes it easier.
Now once you have all of your rollers in, you’re going to let that set for 5 – 10
minutes tops! You don’t really need any longer than that.
So starting with that first section you curled. Take that first curl and now if it’s a little
too tight or isn’t thick enough, go ahead and run your fingers through it first.
Take the end of that curl and re-curl it in a spiral motion back down onto your head.
Pin the end of it to your head and roots. That’s how it’s going to maintain that
circular shape. You’re going to need about 1-2 pins max, per curl.
Now go ahead and do the same thing for the rest of your curls. In the same top to bottom
vertical section that you used when you began curling your hair.
Oh! Now there’s Mycroft. He decided he wanted to join us.
He does actually love getting attention, especially when I’m taking pictures or doing videos.
So there he goes. He’s just saying hi.
Now once you’re finished with all of the curls, you can go ahead and do double check.
Redo any of the ones you’re not happy with, and smooth down the flyaways.
[end voiceover]
So that’s it! It’s pretty simple. Just hairspray it down and you’re good to go.
I hope you guys also enjoyed the cameo that Mycroft had. He’s right here, he’s very
interested in what we’re doing. Say bye Mycroft!
