My father played in the NBL when I was born so basketball
has always been in the family and I’ve kind of grown up around
it with my dad coaching so it’s been really good for my development.
It’s good going day to day against your friends.
It’s like a great opportunity just to learn how they play
and how to adapt to their game and when they know like the
moves you’re going to do it’s difficult to beat them so it’s
good in that sense been able to divulge.
You know he’s competitive, he has a high work ethic, he
comes in everyday and wants to get better and I think that’s
why he’s going to be a super player. He has talent both
athletically and he understands the game well but he’s
competitive and wants to be the best player that he can be.
You know he’s still just turned eighteen so there’s
still maturity to go in his body but it’s about getting
into the gym, lifting a little bit harder and working on
getting a bigger stronger body. He has that wiry kind of frame.
Getting to the basket is definitely one of my strengths.
It’s been, been able to get past players has always been one of my strengths but I’ve recently trying to start incorporating shooting into my game.
You know he’s a 6 foot 6 point guard, has a great feel for the game;
understands the game really well; has a good quick first step to get to the basket; is long and ranging defensively just and has a good basketball IQ.
Right now I’m just trying to finish school;
like my mind set is just I really want to play basketball.
Whatever’s the best option for me is the one I’m
going to go with but I don’t think there’s an
option where I can go wrong.
It’s a weird feeling. I didn’t think that it could happen
for a couple of years but to have this feeling that one
of my goals to get into the NBA is going to be accomplished,
is an unbelievable feeling and it can’t be explained.
I know that, that goal is going to be accomplished now
that and now it’s all about taking the next step and
trying to make a career out of it.
It was a long process and which me and my family underwent.
The main thing about me was feeling comfortable with
my decision and making sure that I made the right decision
plus my life is going to change from now,
so I think with my family, my family’s lives are also going to change,
so it was also about them being able to adjust, and also myself.
I definitely had a lot of support from people outside my family;
people in the Australian Boomers team,
Luke Longley, Patty Mills, John Ingles were all there for
me and speaking and even if it was just, just letting me
know that they’re there for, or up for a chat, if I have
any questions about process of anything,
they’re all going to be there for me so,
I think having that support helped me through the decision
and it made me know that I wasn’t going through this alone.
All my previous coaches have been obviously a great help;
my family’s been very good. The AIS played a huge part in
my development with Paul Goriss and Ian Stacker being here,
that was kind of what took my game to the next level
being here under a professional environment where I
could have physio, massage and get the education I needed
at Lake Ginninderra. So I think that is, that is one of
the main things that’s helped me kind of progress and been
able to take this step because through the AIS’s help,
I’ve known, I know that I’m able to take a step into a professional career.
