Welcome to a Budo Basics series video. In the previous video we discussed some weapons
and nomencleture. In this video we will discuss some basic terms
of Japanese swordsmanship. But first lets discuss what we will usually
call this type of swordsmanship.
Some japanese swordsmanship is commonly referred to as, iaido or battodo. some times shortenered
as iai. Its also called iaijutsu or battojutsu.
thats a lot of names isn't it? lets break it down as its not as complicated as it first
seems.
There is a difference between the endings of do and jutsu.
You'll see them affixed
to a great many words in Japanese. For example, shodo, judo, jujutsu, kendo, kenjutsu, bajutsu
and so on.
