The 20-member group was a contingent of higher education officials in China. Columbus State
was one of their final stops in central Ohio. Dr. Harrison: It’s a tribute to Columbus
State that people are traveling the world to glean best practices in human resources
and college management generally. And that was the primary goal of the visit:
finding ways to improve human resources management at Chinese colleges.
Voice of Translator for Xu Jirong, VP Anhui University: We’d like to learn how your
university is human centered Especially in the field of wellness of staff and faculty
as well as career development. After Columbus State’s HR team gave a 90-minute
overview of polices here. Dr. Harrison: By the nature of the questions
I think we are all in the same boat in a lot of ways. These kinds of exchanges really allow
us to learn from one another. Following a group picture, and before departing,
President Harrison presented each member with a Columbus State lapel pin as a memento.
Dr. Harrison: Many of the folks in this delegation were from our sister city in China, so there’s
a deep relationship already there so I think that can bode well for future partnerships
that we can learn from as well.
