OTAN has developed a wonderful tool for teachers called Teaching with Technology.
It is found at the OTAN homepage.
Go to www.otan.us.
Across the top there is a tab for Teaching tools and Resources.
Scroll down to Teaching with Technology.
Once there start by choosing your program area.
Then choose the level, skill you want to address or the standard or CASAS competency for your
lesson.
The tool will find web sites and other technology to engage your students in your classroom.
My name is Debbie Jensen The tech tool I want to share with you is Canva: a design
program.
There are many things we make in our classrooms: flyers, brochures, banners, newsletters, certificates,
resumes, social media posts, and infographics.
Canva can help you create all of these and more.
For our students, a wonderful method to present information they have gathered in a report
is the infographic.
Help your students make eye-catching infographics.
In our visual world they can help make complex information easier to understand.
It all starts at canva.com where you create an account.
First, choose from their huge library of professionally-designed templates.
Use Canva's design tools.
You can change any element, fix or modify any image, edit the text, change the background
until it is just the way you want it.
You can use your own images, their images or find images online.
For some of Canva's images there is a fee.
After you have completed your design it is saved for you in Canva.
You can share it, download it, and even make it public.
Have your students make infographics on current topics of interest.
This makes a great ending to a research project.
They can then share what they have learned with the class.
To find more technology you can use in your classroom, go to www.otan.us/teachtech/ Follow
the instructions and find something to use in your classroom on Monday.
