And now it's time for our daily arts and culture segment with Michelle Kim. Let's see what
she has for us today.
Hello Michelle
Hello Conn-young
So what do you have for us?
April is already just around the corner and a lot of exhibitions and musicals are coming
to an end as they prepare for new arts and culture programs. Today, I'll preview two
of my favorite shows that you shouldn't miss. Take a look.
The Vatican Museum's Renaissance Collection is on display here in Korea for the first
time.
The exhibition, "Musei Vaticani," showcases 73 paintings, sculptures and decorative arts
from the Renaissance period by legendary artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Rafaello Sanzio
and Michelangelo.
Museum curator Min Yu-jin explained how the works in the exhibition were selected.
"The exhibition was curated by *** Cornini and he specially selected masterpieces that
are very significant to The Vatican Museum's collection for this show, representing Italian
Renaissance art from the 1300s to the 1600s."
The exhibition is structured in chronological order and begins and ends with topographic
models of Vatican City and a model of the Papal Palace, giving viewers a look at where
the artworks live.
The Vatican's most prominent artworks are probably Michelangelo's "Pieta," Da Vinci's
"Saint Jerome in the Wilderness" and "Charity" by Rafaello Sanzio,... and the originals are
part of the exhibition here in Seoul, offering viewers a rare glimpse of these works.
"Musei Vaticani" will be showing at the Hangaram Art Museum within the Seoul Arts Center until
March 31st.
