Raw Food Diet: How to Start?
A lot of people are intimidated by starting a raw food diet. They don't know where to
begin.
One was I've seen people do it is gradually. You start adding more raw food, and you're
still using some cooked food, so you don't go cold turkey, so to speak. You gradually
wade into the raw food pool. That's a great way to start, and there's nothing wrong with
that. You gradually learn some recipes that way.
Another way is to choose recipes that are easy to learn. Of course, everyone can do
a salad; throw a bunch of things, a bunch of vegetables in a salad. That's obviously
the easiest way a lot of raw foodists start.
There are other easy things to make, like raw hummus out of sunflower seeds. You just
add sesame seeds, soaked sunflower seeds, salt, and lemon juice, and you've got hummus
that's every bit as satisfying as a regular hummus that's cooked. It's maybe ten minutes,
at most, to prepare.
You want to choose things that aren't going to take you two hours in the kitchen. A lot
of people I've seen, they try and start off doing dehydrated menu items. It's a little
overwhelming because you have to think so far ahead of when you're actually going to
eat the meal, because you have to allow 24 hours to dehydrate something. That's a little
more challenge than you probably need to begin on a raw food diet.
Keep it simple to start, gradually wade in, and it's much easier than you think.
