The trip has been really risky, one doesn't sleep, goes hungry
risks ones life, doesn't know when one will die, is scared along the way
one the train one is traumatized, trembles, and then the cold, yeah, it's hard.
The train ride is not an easy thing,
one wants to reach the American dream but has to face many risks,
we have to come by train, the dangers are kidnapping, assault, death on the train,
the train is fast and one trips and has to run to get on,
there one encounters death.
All us Hondurans, we leave in search of the American dream. For some it becomes reality, for others a nightmare, or become history.
that's the way it is. The other day, a young man drowned in a swamp. His dreams stopped there.
It's hard to see one's fellow traveler drown or be killed by the train.
Well, look, I don't have family there and I'm already 44-years-old.
I told my wife, the children asked me for a car. They wanted something more.
It made me feel bad and I told them: children, one day I'll go to the states,
and I'm already 44, old already, people ask why I'm going so old,
I told them I'm going to fight and make my way. Thanks to God here I am, I put myself in his hands.
I made a promise, that when I arrive, the first thing I'm going to do is go to a church.
