In this tape we are going to talk about how to become a deputy sheriff. A deputy sheriff
is a very unique person because he or she covers the county in which you live in. I
would suggest that again you go on line to a great marketing tool which is the internet
and put in your county sheriff's department and see if they are hiring. See if you meet
the minimum qualifications. One of the things that you have to do is complete the application.
I can't stress how important it is to be very honest on the application because again you
will see some of the same questions on the polygraph exam and be prepared to probably
be already sworn. Most of your departments like police departments will give you more
of a shoe in so to speak if you are already certified as a law enforcement officer whether
you are active or inactive. Because what that does is it saves them a lot of money on having
to send you to school. So I would suggest that if you are really looking at become a
sheriff and you don't have your certification, go ahead and go to school. Get a hold of your
local college and look into criminal justice standards and training and see how you can
certify yourself. Once you get that certification, attach it to your application and it will
get you through the door a lot faster.
