There are two self timer operation modes on the Canon 40D and those can both be selected
through the drive mode button and the quick selection wheel on the back of your camera.
If you hold down the drive button and then scroll through to, there's two timer modes
here you can see. This is the ten second and the two second mode. I'm going to go ahead
and select the ten second mode and now my camera is in self timer ten second mode. What
I wanted to do from this point is make sure that your, that your subject is framed and
that the focus is already achieved before you step into the frame. So you might want
to have somebody standing at about the distance that you will be walking into the frame. If
it's just yourself you might find something else that's already in the frame that's approximately
the same distance away from the camera as you will be when you walk into the frame.
Once you have your focus set and your shot framed, go ahead and hit the shutter button,
press it all the way down and the camera will give you ten seconds to walk around to the
other side to get ready to be in the shot.
