The Forester 2.0XT.
It's new on the Dutch market. There was a Forester, but it didn't have a lot of power.
This one does. 2-liter, 238 hp, 357 Nm (263 lb ft) torque.
This takes you from 0-100 kph (62 mph) in 7.5 seconds.
That's quick for an SUV-like car.
At the same time, it doesn't feel like you're driving a huge, high car, even though it's an off-roader.
Of course, this car - Subaru - has AWD standard; symmetrical AWD to be precise.
A fun fact: this car also has a CVT automatic transmission.
Subaru was the first to combine AWD with a CVT in 1988.
In the Subaru Justy.
But yeah. The CVT is a Dutch invention. Back then, the Justy had a DAF transmission.
This car has tiny Dutch roots.
This car can do a lot, or so I found out today. We drove all kinds of off-road tracks.
We followed a path into the forest. It's bizarre what you can do with a normal road car on this terrain.
It's incredible. The AWD has X-Mode.
At the push of a button, at low speeds of course, it makes sure all tires keep turning and gripping.
When one wheel loses traction, it distributes the power over the other wheels,
or one wheel if needed.
That works very well.
Is it all that great? No. I do need something to complain about.
To start, we used to have the Forester Turbo with a cool scoop on the hood,
so everyone could see muscle was arriving. This one doesn't have that anymore.
Why not? That's a shame. The Levorg does have it, but they're not doing it on this car.
It's an all-rounder.
It's a shame we don't have extreme winters in the Netherlands; like Norway, where we're driving today.
It's here the car comes into its own. It'll surprise you what you can do with symmetrical AWD.
