I'm at the Open University.
Why do I always start by saying that
because I'm always at the Open University.
I should really bring a sleeping bag.
Who are you guys?
I'm Catherine Davidson. I work in the alumni office at the OU.
I'm Louise Watson. I also work in the alumni office.
And what do you do?
I work on the web and ecommunications with our alumni.
And then I go and fundraise from our alumni.
And that's why you're here today.
That's why we're here today, yes,
because my buddy and I are doing a phone campaign.
That's the buddy there.
She's actually going to be supervising some of our callers.
We're going to get some alumni, staff and students to come in,
call some of our lovely alumni...
Well, pick up that phone right now.
You're calling somebody now. What do you say?
- I say hello. - Good start.
- It's the Open University. - Give us your money.
We have lots of exciting projects that we can use your money in.
And what do they get?
Recognition? Love?
Absolutely.
- Cosmic good vibes. - Harmony.
Good karma.
We need more of all of this.
Why aren't more people giving money down the phone?
They should do it. Do it now.
- You'd better put that back. - Do it now.
So that's pretty much what you do. Have you been successful so far?
Very successful previous campaigns.
The last campaign raised thousands of pounds
and it's supporting students, bursaries, books, child care
and all kinds of things.
What's this campaign going to be for?
It's all of those things probably and just enabling people,
getting people to be able to study with the university,
change their lives.
Can people just phone in and give money anyway?
Yeah, absolutely. Anyone.
So the number will probably be tagged on the bottom of this video.
It will be.
Wouldn't it be great if you could just click a button
and donate as well?
We are bringing that online very soon.
Fantastic.
So if there are people out there
who have money that they don't necessarily want to spend
on rubbish tat, because you all do,
and you want to do good with it, they can give it to the Open University.
They certainly can.
And they know that it's going to be used for wonderful things
which go towards education and care and furthering humanity.
Is that a bold statement?
Well, yes, but that's what we do.
And we're open to everyone and that's what we're trying to do.
Thank you very much, guys.
Thank you.
