Have you ever left fruit out on the counter just a little bit longer than you should have?
It's starting to turn brown and smell a little over-ripe, and then the next thing you know,
you've got fruit flies. They can sure be annoying. How do you get rid of them? I'm Janice Creneti,
and this is How Long Do Fruit Flies LIve? Well, not that long. Typically only, ten to
eighteen days, but it's long enough to be annoying. Here's the thing, though. Fruit
flies can reproduce pretty rapidly, as well. They have to go through the metamorphosis
process that all insects go through. They lay an egg. That egg hatches into a larva.
Eventually the larva goes into a pupal stage, which is sort of like a cocoon in a butterfly,
and it's there that the fruit fly actually becomes an adult, with wings, legs. Able to
fly around on your fruit, lay some more eggs, and have those eggs hatch, and your fruit
flies start all over again. Wanna get rid of the fruit flies? It's pretty simple, just
rid of the fruit. I'm Janice Creneti, and this is How Long Do Fruit Flies Live?
