Costi
is the smallest guinea pig of a litter of three.
She is thinner and is growing slower than her sisters.
Therefore
she has a problem and needs our help.
How do we know that she is thin? You can tell, just looking at her
you can see for yourselves.
She is a very bony guinea pig,
and by just touching her, you
can tell that her temperature is much lower,
she eats less and does less exercise too.
What should we do to these thinny and weak guinea pigs.
Firstly, modify their diet. We will have to feed them high
energetic diets, that will help them an optimum absorbtion of
the nutruents. We normally use the Cunipic intestinal
This here is the normal diet
for a guinea pig without problems, as soon as we
notice the first symptoms of weight loss,
we will give them the Vet Line
Intestinal.
But now
we have a guinea pig that doesn't want to eat, she is so weak that she is not even
able to eat by herself. Therefore we will put her
under a heat light and we will prepare
a special powder
diet,
that I'm sure you know,
its the Cunipic Herbal Convalescense.
We mix the powder
with warm water
to make a mixture.
Stir it well,
we will make her drink it.
Also, when they are so thin,
we will add
a bit of Flora Digest,
that is nothing else
than another factor
to make this tastier
and help with the digestive process.
Stir well until all the ingredients have mixed together
The sooner we start giving this suplement food,
the sooner
the problems will be resolved.
We will feed her
as much as she wants. She is very thin, so if she likes it and wants more,
all the better. We will hold her so she doesn't move
at all.
We will go very slowly using an insulin syringe, and if you see
that she likes it, thats a very good sign.
We will repeat the same procedure a few times
and it is better to give a small amount each time but
many times a day.
Very good fatty. Its harder for her to swallow so this means that she is
getting full.
Its ok, we will let her rest
at least an hour and a half. What we will do is put her under
a heat light.
As she is very thinny, her temperature is lower
and she needs an external heat source. No wrapping. No.
We will put her under a heat
light, maybe a heat bulb, or a heating blanket, or
even a normal bulb or spotlight which is what I will use.
Don't forget to visit the vet, this is very important,
and the vet is the only person that can help you.
You must visit
an expert veterinarian in exotic animals, that will
find the problem and solve it.
