Today on our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be test fitting the Glacier Cable Snow Tire
Chains for light trucks, Part Number PW3027C. We'll be test fitting the tire chains on 265/60-18
tires. Now, this vehicle is primary rear-wheel drive, so we'll be installing the tire chains
on the rear tires. To begin our test fit, we'll lay the chains flat on the ground to
undo any chains for tangles. We'll then drape the tire chains over the tire, making sure
that they are centered to ensure a good fit. We'll then move to the inside of the tire,
where we will connect the male and female end of the tire chain.
We'll then move to the outside of the tire, where we will repeat the same steps and use
the cable tensioning device to lock it into position. Notice the yellow indicator tag
to inform you which side of the vehicle the tire chain should be on and notice the hooks
are facing outward, so that we don't damage the tire. The manufacturer does recommend
using a cable tensioner, Part Number PW100 to secure the tire chain to the tire and prevent
it from falling off. We'll install the cable tensioner in a pentagonal shape. Now, you
may want to drive a little bit to make sure the tire chains are centered on to the vehicle
and if necessary reduce any slack.
