In the Mahabharata course
Mahabharata
Of Shri Vyasa Maharishi
Is an awesome story. Of awesome beings that walked this Earth
Especially the land of Bharatavarsha
It's called Itihasa
Because it happened
And hence our history
Going through the history
Helps us reconnect with the past
Helps us how our forefathers lived
Conducted themselves
Helps clear the cobwebs of our mind
And that impacts our life
In a very strong way
All of us as children would have dreamt big
Would have wanted to do. This. That.
So many things
We were all excited looking forward to life ahead of us
But as we grow up
So many responsibilities, tensions
Stresses and strains of daily life
Operational difficulties. We get burdened by all these
And hence we started out with dreams
But we lose steam
In the daily grind of life
We have to face conflicts
Within ourselves
What do I do with my life?
What is the meaning? What is the purpose of my life?
Am I doing the right thing?
Should I do this or that?
Should I be this way or that way?
Should I choose this over that?
And as choices explode
Our conflicts also seem to explode
And so many inputs that we receive from others

What is right for me?
So many questions
So many apparent contradictions
How do we reliably answer these?

Question
That's when the storyline of Mahabharata
Mahabharata has so much to offer
Because that's the distilled essence of the Rishi parampara
That Vyasa Maharishi has given forth for us
Though seemingly it's just a story
But it's famously said of the Mahabharata
What is found here can be found elsewhere
But what is not found here cannot be found anywhere
That speaks volumes of what Mahabharata contains
It has everything in it
All aspects of human endeavor
Personal
Social
Political
Economics
Science
Essentially pointing to Dharma in all aspects of human endeavor
And Dharma comes from the root word 'Dhru'
'Dhru' means 'To sustain'
Even now all of us are worried about sustainability
Sustained technology
Sustainable living
Sustainable businesses
So everywhere there's this buzzword 'Sustainability'
Dharma is exactly that
Those principles that lead to sustainability
So as part of this course
We'll be looking at all these principles
Essentially through the storyline of the Mahabharata
The detailed storyline of the Mahabharata
So once again I welcome you to this course
And I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time ahead
Thankyou
