We are working on a web video about commencement.
Do you mind if we ask what your post-graduation plans are?
Me? Yeah! (do it, Keith!)
I'm doing a service year in New York City called "CityYear."
I'm going to be doing that for one year, helping some children out
some at-risk students, help them graduate on time and what not
and after that I'm going to continue
my graduate studies in exercise physiology.
Sounds really exciting. Yeah, I'm excited!
Can I ask you just one question?
What will you be doing next after graduation?
Law school. Going to law school. Where at?
I haven't decided yet but I think U.B.
Ah, I'm going to Yale to do a Ph.D in physics.
Wow! Congratulations! Are you excited? Yes.
I'm not going to grad school, I'm taking a year off and working at a research center.
And where is that located? Mt. Hope Family Center.
Oh, so you're going to stay in Rochester! Mm-mm. Yes.
I'm getting my master's in London, actually. In London!
What made you travel all that way?
I studied abroad there last spring. So- and I really like it.
So I want to go back there.
I'm going to grad school, getting a Ph.D.
in chemistry at Penn State.
What happens next after graduation?
Work, grad school.
Where are you working and where are you going to grad school?
I'm not sure yet.
Is it backwards? It's backwards. That's all right.
Oh, beautiful.
I'm just going home and looking for a job, and
looking for a job, and just trying to take things from there.
And where's home? New Jersey. Yeah.
So just gonna do that, and hopefully be employed in a month!
Well, best of luck to you! Thanks.
I recently got hired by the Ibero Action League
to be a program assistant for a
program that helps out with
sex health in high school. So I'm going to be doing that for a year
and I'm applying to medical school in the fall.
Are you from Rochester originally?
No, I'm from Puerto Rico.
We're keeping you here! Yeah, yeah. Hopefully
the weather will get better. I'm still hoping, I'm still hoping.
We'll see what we can do for you. Congratulations!
I'll go down to base school infantry training in Quantico, Virginia.
I'm a lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
Take Five. Oh, so you're going to stay another year here?
I am.
And what are you going to be studying through the next year?
Popular music and its effects on American culture.
Oh, that's fun Are you working with John Covatch?
I am.
I'm going to probably take a year off and then do a master's in health science.
I'm going to Harvard to get my Ph.D in chemistry.
Harvard? Nice.
I'm going to Northwestern in do my Ph.D in chemistry.
Nice, nice!
I'm going to law school at Penn State.
I'm working with Americorps next year. And will you be staying local?
Yeah, with Rochester.
Um, probably working.
Where?
Any - wherever! So you're on the job hunt.
No, no, I'm not really on the job hunt.
They're pretty much hunting for me.
I guess that's what happens when you get a degree, though.
Yes! [laughter]
So what are you doing?
I'm going to, ah, grow vegetables organically for people to eat,
and I'm going to bake bread organically for people to eat,
so that the whole world may be nourished by good food.
That's what I'm going to do after.
And are you opening a store somewhere?
Yes, it already exists.
We're at the public market on Saturdays
and the Southwedge farmers market on Thursdays,
and the Brighton farmers market on Sundays.
You can come and get some vegetables and bread and nourish your soul.
What's the name of your business?
Small World Bakery.
I love it! and so, are you from Rochester originally?
No, relocated here for school.
And you're going to stay for a little while.
That's right. That's right. Stay in Rochester. Congratulations!
