God calls us to be followers of Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit to grow
as communities of grace, joy and peace, so that God's healing and hope flow through us
to the world.
God calls us. That's where it starts.
Mennonite Church USA wouldn't exist without the individual people who have responded and
are responding to God's call to follow Jesus Christ.
By responding, we join in the amazing work that God's Spirit is doing in our world. And
in choosing to follow Jesus as a part of a local congregation we can pool our resources
of time, abilities and money to collaborate with God in ways we could not do alone.
In the same way, congregations can connect with each other, and pool their resources
through participating in area conferences, so as to do more than they could do alone.
Twenty-one area conferences make up the denomination of Mennonite Church USA. Providing congregations
with a direct link to larger denominational ministries such as the executive board and
churchwide agencies.
The denomination works on behalf of the whole church in all it's parts.
The Executive Board staff and agencies are supported by the contributions of individuals
and congregations across the church and exist to help local faith communities embody the
message of Christ's love, peace and reconciliation.
The five churchwide agencies are:
Everence, the stewardship agency of Mennonite Church USA.
Mennonite Health Services Alliance, which supports health and human service ministries
for Mennonite Church USA.
MennoMedia, the publishing and media agency of Mennonite Church USA and Mennonite Church
Canada.
Mennonite Education Agency, the education agency of Mennonite Church USA.
And Mennonite Mission Network, the mission agency of Mennonite Church USA.
In addition, The Mennonite serves as the denominational magazine for members of Mennonite Church USA.
The agencies of Mennonite Church USA have their own boards, but also collaborate with
the Executive Board in carrying out the denomination's vision and mission.
Constituency groups work to serve the needs of their members across Mennonite Church USA
and connect them to a larger vision and mission of the church.
These include:
Iglesia Menonita Hispana
African American Mennonite Association
Native Mennonite Ministries
Mennonite Women USA
And Mennonite Men
Mennonite Church USA has adopted seven priorities to guide our ministry across all parts of
the church as part of our ten-year purposeful plan.
The first three priorities express the core of congregational life from an Anabaptist
perspective.
Christian Formation
Christian Community
Holistic Christian Witness
The other four priorities identify areas for particular emphasis over the next 10 years,
particularly through the area conferences, churchwide agencies, and the denomination.
Stewardship
Leadership Development
Undoing Racism and Advancing Intercultural Transformation
Church-to-Church Relationships
Mennonite Church USA consists of more than 100,000 members in about 900 congregations,
21 area conferences, and various churchwide agencies and constituency groups.
We are a network of churches joined by a common set of core convictions and commitment to
an Anabaptist perspective on Christian faith.
We are called into being as a church to proclaim Christ in word and deed so that all people
may experience the healing and reconciling Love of God that fills us with hope and empowers
us to be agents of God's peace.
You, your congregation and your area conference are each a vital part of Mennonite Church
USA.
And, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we are doing together what we could not do alone.
