Our Attendance screen is built for speed.
To take attendance for the day, select the Attendance menu from the top
and then Take Attendance.
By entering the screen, you've just recorded attendance for the day
You very well might be done!
I should qualify that every student has been marked as present for the day.
If that is the case, you are done!
You can update your attendance record throughout the day.
you can mark a student as absent for the full day,
for only the morning, or only the afternoon, with the corresponding bubbles.
You can also mark the student as tardy or left early.
This will update each time you click save in the lower right corner.
There are some stipulations to tardies an absences that I should mention as well.
Here goes...
if someone is present, they can be marked as tardy or left early.
if someone is absent in the morning,
they can also be marked left early,
but cannot be marked as tardy.
if someone is absent in the afternoon,
they can also be marked as tardy,
but not left early.
Okay, I hope that made sense.
Finally, the no attendance option relates directly to the holidays that
you've added to MRX under the Administration menu.
when you add a holidays to your school's MRX account,
MRX will not allow you to record attendance on that day.
But sometimes schools forget to add holidays for a particular day and
accidentally take
attendance just by coming to the screen,
which ultimately messes with their attendance reports.
We have added the no attendance option
so that schools can record all no attendance
instead of incorrectly recording attendance.
If this is the case for your school,
click on the all no attendance button in the lower right corner,
then hit save.
That will update your records.
Now that I've described all these options,
I will update my attendance record with those that were not present from the
beginning of the day.
I received word that one student would not be there until the afternoon
and other students would be absent for the entire day. So I'll record that
accordingly.
I will add a reusable comment for this student that I built on the
Administration menu.
Lastly, notice that the teacher is actually listed at the bottom of this
attendance list.
Therefore, administrators keep
track of staff attendance on the screen as well,
and generate reports at the end of the term.
Now that everything's up to date to this point,
I'll click save in the lower right corner,
and my attendance record is up to date. But I can still come back if i needed to
update it.
Prior attendance dates or future attendance dates can be modified as well
by using the record date feature to select a different attendance date.
You can find this in the lower right corner.
Click on the calendar icon
to change the dates
with the up and down arrows
for the year or the left and right arrows for the month.
change this date here,
and when you change it,
you'll notice it's now in red numbers,
and you'd actually just recorded attendance for that date as well
because you remained on the Take Attendance screen.
Just remember to change that date back to the current date when you begin to
record student progress on the Record Progress screen.
But hopefully you'll begin a habit of going directly to the Take Attendance
screen each morning when you open MRX so that this administrative task
will be finished in seconds,
and you can focus on your students instead.
