[MUSIC PLAYING]
MATT FARAH: Here's how this event's gonna work.
Half-mile runway, 50 mile roll-on.
The start?
Right here.
Two BMW 335s taking off down the runway.
We got about 80 cars here divided into two
groups, red and blue.
Very simple, red is over 700 horsepower, blue is under 700
horsepower.
At the end of the day, there's going to be a fastest tuner
shoot out, from all the tuners represented here, and an
unlimited shootout for the fastest car
of the whole event.
Now, there is nothing here with less than 400 horsepower.
There is nothing here with more than 1,100 horsepower.
But in between is a real nice sweet spot.
So let's sit back and watch a few run.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
MATT FARAH: You may notice I'm in my truck.
You may notice I'm at the end of a runway.
This is not a tuner car.
But we figured we'd have some fun anyway.
So I'm gonna race a Toyota Prius down the runway.
That's right.
Toyota Prius on tarmac, Raptor on dirt.
So shall we do this?
Here we go.
Ready?
And go.
First gear, there we go.
Come on.
The Prius is actually in the lead right now.
And I'm catching him.
I'm catching him.
Oh, I'm gonna make the pass, I think.
Here we go it's dead even.
Dead even.
Oh, and I get the Prius.
I got him.
Yes.
What was my consumption right there?
3.1 miles per gallon.
[LAUGHS]
We got Ryan from Shift S3ctor, invited us out.
Thanks for having us, man.
RYAN: Happy to have you guys here.
MATT FARAH: Good turnout.
Good cars.
RYAN: I know.
It's pretty crazy.
It all started as just a bunch of guys who wanted to race
down the airstrip.
And now it's sponsored. and 1,000-wheel GTRs, and
1,000-wheel Ford GTs.
MATT FARAH: And we're here.
RYAN: Yeah.
I guess that's cool, too.
Some people are sandbagging.
And some people are like, oh, I have a 1,000-horsepower car.
And then they come out and you see them rubbing
it off their window.
Because they realize that they're losing to all these
other 900-, 800-, 500-horsepower cars.
But it's cool.
MATT FARAH: I would've liked to see that crazy '69 Camaro
go a little faster, too.
He said it was a shakedown run, I don't really buy it.
MATT FARAH: How old are you?
BOY: Eight.
MATT FARAH: Eight.
I'm gambling with an eight-year-old on
racing right now.
Here we go. $5 on the E-63, right?
And you're on the BMW 135?
Oh, my God.
I just got smoked.
Wow.
Look at this.
I have now lost $10 to him.
[LAUGHS]
Kid keeps taking my money.
BOY: Yeah, that's right.
I took his money.
Right.
From this guy.
MATT FARAH: Here's how the tuner shootout's gonna work.
There's two classes, the fast class and the slow class.
The ESS BMW M3 is going to race the HG Motorsports
Corvette ZR1 for second place.
Then the 900-wheel horsepower, single-turbo Cunningham C5
Corvette is going to race the 850-horsepower BBI
Autosport 996 Turbo.
You got that?
690 horsepower supercharged M3 versus the HG Motorsports
Corvette ZR1 looking pretty even right now.
The ZR1's pulling.
The ZR1's pulling.
And the ZR1 crosses the line by three lengths, making it
the class two winner.
All right.
For the first place in the tuner division we've got the
BBI Autosport 850-horsepower 996 Turbo versus the
Cunningham Motorsports--
I said turbo before-- but it's actually a supercharged 427
Corvette, 900 horsepower.
And here they go.
And it looks like--
oh, this is a close one.
Oh, and BBI Autosport.
There it is.
BBI Autosport Porsche 996 Turbo.
To Tim and Joey, congratulations to you, sir.
Here we go.
Race number two.
Switzer 900-horsepower Nissan GTR versus Cobb Tuning-- sill
a Nissan GTR.
And oh, boy.
Can anyone beat the Switzer today?
No.
The answer is no.
No one can beat the Switzer.
And the Switzer will be racing the BBI Porsche in the
unlimited final.
Here they come.
And the Switzer is in the lead.
Will it keep it?
Oh.
That was inches.
That was inches.
I don't know.
Someone down there.
I literally, the Porsche caught right
up at the last second.
[WALKIE-TALKIE BEEPS]
MALE SPEAKER: Skyline.
Skyline.
Half a car.
That was close.
Half a car.
MATT FARAH: I picked that up.
We have a confirmation.
The GTR won by half a car length.
And I'm guessing they crossed the finish line somewhere in
the neighborhood of 165 miles an hour.
Damn.
Switzer E900, Neil Switzer, I know you've been emailing me,
we're going to talk.
Me and you.
I'm going to drive your car.
Copy?
All right.
